This is our cat Willie, who we foster-to-adopted three years ago. He belonged to a veteran for 9-10 years, who lost his residence and couldn't keep him any longer, so we adopted him. I stay in touch with his former owner to let him know how he's doing.
Yesterday he began having trouble breathing and we took him to an animal hospital this morning. The diagnosis unfortunately was heart failure, and she believes he may have 3-6 months left. He's really the most affectionate little guy and this is tearing me up. If you're reading this and could just have a good thought for him, I'd appreciate that.

Thank you for taking care of him and sorry to hear the news. My wife and I know how heartbreaking it can be.

It's uhh... yeah. There's some work to be done.
I did try a test on one of the unpainted parts and under a few decades of tobacco resin I did manage to find some clearcoat. Mechanicals are intact, cracked plastic here and there but nothing seems to be missing and the boards mostly check out so far. Everyone needs a hobby.

I cringe when I hear these posts, so sorry to hear about Willie. I’m obsessed with my cat and become unhinged with just the thought of him not being around someday. He’s survived a few close calls and is getting old so I treasure every minute with him. Try to spend as much time with Willie as you can. Remember that because of you he had a much better, healthier and happier life than if he was a stray. Best of luck!

Thank you Ron, and thanks everyone else too. He's home since yesterday, on some heart meds and has a cardio appt later this week where they'll determine what other meds he needs. The plan now is just to keep him as calm, happy, and healthy as possible for as long as possible. I thank my stars that I work at home so I can be around for him all day; same as when my grand old boy Atticus passed several years ago, so glad I was able to be around him full-time to care for him. It's amazing how they burrow right into your heart.
Quoted from jhanley:Can’t figure why my cats like playing in my shorts?

Mine do the same thing. Not sure why. LOL

We lost our beloved Calvin a few years ago to heart failure. I had posted his picture a few times. Anyway, one thing that made me feel better was taking him to a heart specialist (don't ask how much that cost) and being able to ask the question that I hated asking. Was he in pain? The specialist told me that he was in no pain at all and would just be more tired than usual. He said it was akin to us getting older and needing to rest more after exerting ourselves.
Anyway, we are all pulling for Willie!

How did you teach your cat to text ?
Mine has a hard time typing
Our black cat, Miss Pettipaws passed away this week. It was completely sudden and unexpected. She was in good health and was her normal self. Then she was just gone. We think she may have had a sudden heart attack. At the very least, she did not suffer but I was not ready to say goodbye.

Long story short, I didn't care for cats because of allergies but my one kid said how about a Devon Rex??? They're supposedly a very low in dander so I agreed...... But was nervous cause my allergies around cats from earlier years in life were very bad... Man, I love her to death and she is just so mischievous .... Her hair is super soft also, love the Devon Rex breed...

Awesome you found one that will work with you. Siberians are another great breed that is low to no allergens.

We are never ready. I always try to remember the love and how I did everything I could to make their life better and make a difference.
One of Mojo's favorite resting spots. It is the kitchen pantry and once in there it's hard to get him out. Normally the only way is to tempt him with a laser pointer which he loves to chase. One reason he likes to sneak into the pantry is because its warm in there, as there is a heater vent just below.

I got to keep that breed in mind.
Ragdoll cats are hypoallergenic as well.. Shadow is our 3rd one.. A few allergic friends have had no issue being around them or petting them. One of my sons friends years ago rubbed his face into one of the cats because the fur was so soft and smooth and did have a reaction, but he was fine on future visits..

When we adopted our cats years ago, there was an Abyssinian at the shelter. His name was Pharoah. I should have brought him back with us too, but we couldn't handle 3 cats at the time. He was awesome, and could jump from the floor to my shoulder (and I am 6'3"). I really regret not adopting him but I am sure someone did because of how awesome he was (don't mind the crappy pics).
