Quoted from Rascal-911:

Hey Steve, I didn't get to see him today but that looks painful. Always good visiting a fellow pinhead, and Elvira......

Thanks Greg - Jube appears to be doing fine as he wants out of quarantine (typical cat) you have me debating Elvira can’t wait for the world to settle down and would like to see how the new avengers plays

Quoted from Birdnest:

Jube used up another life yesterday - somehow he got stuck upside down with his back paw stuck in the bottom v of the bar stool.

Those stools are bad news for pets, lucky it never happened before. Hope you chucked them.
I had a close call back in the day with one of my cats getting tangled in a patio blind cord that wrapped around her neck.
No harm done, but I was so pissed I didn't see that danger before. I always 'pet safed' anywhere I lived when I had cats.

He came with the wife 10 years ago. I really am a dog person but he is actually a good cat. More like a dog and very personable.

Jube used up another life yesterday - somehow he got stuck upside down with his back paw stuck in the bottom v of the bar stool. Ended up with claws completely pointing the wrong direction - the emergency vet said they had never seen that much damage with out a broken foot. Felt terrible pulling his leg up the v but there was no way he was getting out. Was a long expensive evening with surgery required but he is back home recovering. We have had the stools 20 years with multiple pets and never had any issues till yesterday.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

I hope he recovers well!

A similar thing happened to my cat, Pep, back in August. He managed to break EVERY metatarsal and nearly degloved his foot. We went to the vet probably 30 times over the span of two months because he kept getting his cast off. Luckily my pet insurance ended up covering the vast majority of the bills, I highly recommend it now!

Funny. That's exactly what my wife says to me...about once a day or so. She calls it pinball porn. Sometimes I wonder if she'd prefer I look at real porn instead.

Cats and PINBALL is a bit of a stretch here but my best pinball “tech” is playing Lego.

What makes that style of bar stool dangerous? I'm shopping for bar stools and want to steer clear of things that might pose a problem for my little princess.

I presume its paw got caught between the narrowing leg stems near the hoop brace
pasted_image (resized).pngpasted_image (resized).png
Or its paw wedged in the hole in back of chair

Actually it was the lower v on the legs - somehow his toes were caught and he was flipped upside down. Honestly I believe this was one of those once in a million events. We have had up to 7 cats and the chairs are 15 years old and never had any incidents before.

That said, people should be aware that any narrowing situation is not good for animals as their first instinct is to pull - I am going to 3d print some wedges to get rid of the lower pinch points. Another reason to avoid these chairs is they are the Bermuda Triangle for roomba vacs - it gets between the legs and pinballs around till a rescue occurs.

Jube has another 2 weeks in a cast and he visited the vet today and everything is positive

if you need any help drawing up the 3d printed parts shoot me a pm.

My cat's favorite places to be:
1) random boxes
2) places/rooms they are not supposed to be
3) the seat I just got up from to grab another drink

I setup a home office for myself (finally) a few weeks ago. I was working off the breakfast bar thing forever and a day. Anyway, I bought a big old desk and a nice gaming chair. Had the desk delivered, put the chair together and had it all setup and ready to go. Went to grab a beer to celebrate and break in the new desk and came back to this.

On Chair (resized).jpgOn Chair (resized).jpg

The next day, she decided that she wanted the desk.

On Desk (resized).jpgOn Desk (resized).jpg

I had to put a decoy cat bed on the desk and she seemed pretty content. That is until I get up and she steals my chair again.

We rescued her and she has been slowly losing weight since we got her. We don't have any children and she is our daughter. What you said was ignorant and completely uncalled for.

What if I said that about your wife or your kids? Would that be acceptable?

#2977 3 years ago

My cat is a big fat tub of lard and I wouldn't be offended at all if you said that. It's a statement of fact.

I in no way meant anything by it.When I saw the pictures of your cat I thought it was really cute.

Quoted from Spyderturbo007:

Your cat is unable to be offended or hurt by the statement.

Wives and children have cognitive capacity and the ability to be hurt by other’s opinions of them.

Trauma even in the cats and Pinball thread
Very sad

#2982 3 years ago

A lot may have to do with the way the cat lays and the perspective from which the photo was taken. The top pic does make the cat look huge. My 17 yr old cat is getting to be skin and bones, but sometimes he looks big and fat depending on how he lays and the angle.

#2983 3 years ago

We have two brothers one is 7# the other is 18# You better believe we call the big guy fatso.

But not to his face....lol

Here's the family member we were looking to adopt. But was turned down because we have a pet door. I informed them that in 5 minutes and some wood glue or 15 minutes to cut new wood, problem solved. That was 24 hours ago and still no word. Long day going to bed.

Wait, the adoption placed turned you down BECAUSE you have a pet door?

#2989 3 years ago

I don't know about other areas, but I can confirm that the Virginia SPCA makes you sign a document stating that your adopted cat will be indoors only.

#2990 3 years ago

Yes, some states have some laws about cats being only inside animals. The city I live in have the same laws.

#2991 3 years ago
Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

Wait, the adoption placed turned you down BECAUSE you have a pet door?

That's what we were told. Copy from email.

Dear XXXX, we cannot adopt if you have a pet door. I am sorry. We made this mistake once before. The cat got out and was never found.

#2992 3 years ago

So tell them you don't anymore, they wont know the difference. Here in Michigan it's not a law that I'm aware of, never heard of it actually. We have three cats as well as pet doors on three different doors for them. Love pet doors!
