So Karolina, @dmacy's daughter, was nice enough to send Violet a present. It was a wonderful package of 3 banana cat nip toys in a really nice gift wrap. We put 2 in the closet, so she didn't OD and gave her one of them.
Here is the "I just got my present" picture followed by "that's some good shit" picture. And yes, I bought her a Fuff so she can hang out when we watch TV.
Quoted from JodyG:Darryl seems to always sit on Gold Wings when he has the chance. Hes pretty chonky, and he's the only cat we have that I actually worry about when he jumps off a backbox and onto the playfield glass. He doesn't look it, but he's a very solid 22 lbs.

If it's the (required) tempered safety glass, even the chonkiest boi is of no consequence.

Anyone's cats love chasing the mech springs? Occasionally I'll be doing a swap and a spring will go flying. Sometimes to never be seen again until a few months later she's playing with a spring...

And screws, and plastic star posts, those are a big hit!
Sugar pretty much loves anything she can knock off a counter an bat around until it vanishes.
She vanished this past laundry day for a bit. I went to clean the kitty boxes, I don't want you to find me she said.

Just a warning, I saw an interview with comedian Bill Hader and he said when he was a kid his mom threw some clothes in and turned on the dryer and the cat was in there and died.
Quoted from DCFAN:Just a warning, I saw an interview with comedian Bill Hader and he said when he was a kid his mom threw some clothes in and turned on the dryer and the cat was in there and died.
Happened to one of our cats when I was a kid....Fortunately mom hid this from us.
Quoted from DCFAN:Just a warning, I saw an interview with comedian Bill Hader and he said when he was a kid his mom threw some clothes in and turned on the dryer and the cat was in there and died.
Happened several years ago and still am shocked our cat died that way. With kittens an even some adult cats only takes a second and you don't even realize they've innocently snuck into the dryer. Sorry to be so serious but hope those of us sharing this sad experience might prevent this happening more. Take care.
Sorry to bring up unpleasant memories with the picture of Sugar in the dryer, I did escort her out and closed the door after.
I had posted that to illustrate the wacky nature of our kitties. I had no idea someone actually lost a cat that way.
I thought about not posting, never dreamed of so many horror stories.
Love the kitties you have today, they are never here long enough!
Guys/gals:
taking my boy colonel mustard in today. I suspect he's developing hyperthyroid. He's about 14 years old. Over the past few months he's been zooming around like a nut. Sleeping in cool spots all the sudden, like the porcelain sink and tub. Drinking a lot. Skinnier.
Anyone ever deal with this?

Yes, my cat turned out to be diabetic.

He's at the vet now giving bloodwork.

Ugh, yes, this sucks. My dude Lucky had hyperthyroidism. We took him 3 times to the radiation place, and eventually they got it. He made it 3 or 4 more years in good shape (I think he was 17, which is pushing it for a hyper cat- which he was)

Hoping blood tests come back in range.
It's just he's zooming all over the place like a bat outta hell. Hyperactive.
He's a little guy, but it's something kind of new.
Hello This is Miss Kitty.
She was left in our neighborhood about 13 years ago when her owner's moved. It took about 2 month's before she adopted the wife and I. One day I was opening the sun porch door and she darted in. Once inside her slowly walked the interior of our house, every room if the door was open. She then came back to the sun porch. Meow, as if saying this will do. (1st pic Jan 2017) (2nd pic Nov 2020) If I was to post pic of her today she doesn't look the same. Fast forward some thirteen great years together. To this last week knowing the end is here. She has an appointment tomorrow when the veteran. She has cancer again and is to old for the operation this time. Can't see the screen to text anymore. Love and hold your pet's today.

I’m so sorry. It’s a terrible thing to have to go through and I wish you and your wife my condolences.
She looks like a beautiful little kitty and I’m sure she will be sorely missed.
I'm so sorry for you, Miss Kitty is a beautiful girl. She will cross the Rainbow Bridge and will be waiting for you in Heaven. God Bless.

Yes, our Molly was Hyperthyroid a couple of years ago. She had the radioactive tablet thing and everything seems normal now. Shes been better than ever since then. Hardest part was not being able to pat her/have conact with her for the couple of weeks after - hard to explain to a cat. We just gave up after a few days.
Our Dorito was hyperthyroid. He was able to be corrected with a daily dose of methimazole. The pet apothecary made it into salmon flavored soft chews. He thought he was getting treats.
Unfortunately he was also diabetic, and the insulin didn’t do the trick, the vet decided he probably also had cushings disease that caused his insulin resistance. Once he’d gotten to that place, was starving no matter how much he ate, was thirsty no matter how much he’d drank, was leaking everywhere no matter how much he used the litter box. It would’ve required hours long testing every 2 months and more meds...

Purrito!
Well colonel mustard is hyperthyroid.
They’re going to give me a transdermal gel to apply to his ear daily.

Very sorry to hear that. Rest assured, it's not a death sentence. They can live many years happily with that condition. A friend of mine has a boi named Tater that's been on meds for about 7 years now and hes still kickin'. Best wishes for you and Colonel Mustard.

So sad and sorry . You never want a animal to suffer .

My boys love their catnip. After seeing this, I went to Amazon to purchase our 3 banana set. They dragged the package from off the table to under the table and made lots of holes in the package. Once I got home from work, I handed them out.

I gave him my best nursing care, but enough was enough for him. Fortunately his brother from the same litter has had none of these issues. He just had a checkup and is perfectly healthy for a 12 year old.

I'm so sorry to hear that your cat is sick. You've given your cat an amazing life. I know it can be very hard to have a cat put down at the vet, and may make the cat nervous. Just a heads up there are at home pet euthanasia services. I've used Lap of Love twice for my past two cats, they were able to pass away at home.

Beautiful!
This little guy shows up once in a while. Not sure if he belongs to anyone, but he frequents my house and the neighbors across the street. He's a little guy and probably only weighs about three pounds. He's not a kitten, but just a little cat.
Today he wanted to be friendlyIMG_3147 (resized).JPG so I took some pictures of him:IMG_3148 (resized).JPG
edit* I just walked by the front door and he was curled up on the door mat.

If he only weighs three pounds, my guess is he is a stray or lost and not getting enough to eat. Have you thought about posting something on your local community Facebook site or something of a similar sort to see if he belongs to anybody? If not, you may want to get him to a shelter to see if he can be adopted. They can also check for microchips.

That picture of him in the doorway, he has that 'can I live here?' look.

No, he gets fed (by myself and at least one neighbor) and he's not overly skinny, I think he's what you might call a Permakitten. He's at least a year old (maybe older) but he's only the size of about a six month old kitty. He may belong to someone in the neighborhood, but nobody is sure who he belongs to.
My kittie Josie pictured previously above is also a very small cat,
she is about half the size of her brother who we adopted at the same time.
Some cats are just small and some are just big .
Quoted from pinwiztom:Some cats are just small and some are just big .
And all are just right.
