Cute cat! Love the color.

They call the Siberian’s in this color Golden Mackerel. It’s is a very cool color and striping.

Quoted from YeOldPinPlayer:

I think you mean, "Down Simba!"

She was punished for that by only getting two treats that night.

More pics with Stinkerbell and her kittens. They were literally born in a corner of the house, on a Mexican blanket, under my Firepower. Crummy old rent house I had back in 2007.

2nd pic is once they were big enough to get around on their own; they're huddled in a corner behind the leg on Space Shuttle. They actually slept like this a couple times, in a little pile. The little tuxedo kitten Oscar, only male in the litter, is doing his best to ferociously hiss at me.

This past weekend as I was walking our dog through a local nature preserve, we came upon this stray cat lying at the edge of a field. Our dog, who likes cats, immediately noticed her and got excited. Something about the cat made me think it was in distress. It wasn't moving and meowed loudly at us. I called my wife, who brought a cat carrier, and we took the cat home.

The cat was emaciated -- all skin and bones. As soon as we brought her home the cat gobbled down a bowl of food. She was very sweet, purring constantly and rubbing up against us.

We called animal control who had no reports of a missing cat fitting that description. The next day my wife brought her to a vet to check for a microchip, but there wasn't one. The vet said she only weighed 5.5 lbs and has elevated liver levels which could mean anything from malnourishment to eating a toxin to something else perhaps more severe.

We decided to try to keep her and named her Persephone since she was found out in nature right after the start of Spring.

The next day, she started having seizures. If you've ever seen a cat have a seizure, it is frightening. This was full on foam at the mouth, release the bladder and spin in circles twitching uncontrollably on the floor. The seizures could be caused by the liver problems. The seizures lasted two days, and our vet gave us some medicine to try to control them. After starting the medicine, she hasn't had a seizure for 24 hours, so we're starting to feel better. We are still waiting for medicine to help with the liver.

Our dog Sophie, who found her, has formed a special bond with the cat. She wags her tail and gets excited when Persephone is around. Persephone also seems to like Sophie, sometimes rubbing up against her. Our other two cats having been keeping their distance so far.

Wish us luck! Here are some picks from Persephone's first trip to the game room.

I absolutely have. Adopted a little runt of a rescue kitten that was very young, and I noticed she had very minor but persistent tremors especially while sleeping. They evolved into full-blown seizures same as you described. Not liver-related, but no real clue as to cause. I did find that the less stressed she was, the less frequent the seizures were, so I did my best to keep her happy and comfortable. She had free reign of the house and could do absolutely no wrong. It helped that she was also the sweetest little cat I'd ever known.

When she was just past a couple years old she suddenly had trouble swallowing her food. Turned out she had a growth near her throat mostly blocking it. Vet gave her a cortisone shot which immediately helped, and then off to the specialists. After thoroughly checking her out she was diagnosed with lymphoma. They suggested chemo, which was terrifying but I decided to give it a try. She responded to it very well and more importantly, tolerated it well and was back to seeming herself, happy, playful, good appetite (most of the time.) The chemo was fortunately in a form of just a capsule once a month, but she had to go in first for bloodwork and a full checkup. After almost a year of this we had to take a break because her bloodwork showed it may not be wise to give her another dose at the time. She was fine for a couple months but then suddenly fell very ill and there was nothing they could do for her.

I don't get sappy about much and I hate to seem like a downer in this thread but I don't relay this story very often. That little kitten stole my heart and it still hurts that she's gone, years later. Her urn is right here in the room with me. Sad ending but I like to look back on the happy times we shared while she was with me. R.I.P. Shorty, she was my best buddy.

Richard

So that is live, at least it has had some great years with you !
So far we were in the lucky situation that our cats all aged between 17 and 22 years. Our actual ladys are sisters and now 4 years old. They are very shy ... only my wife is allowed to touch ... and they never went in the gameroom if a pin is switches on or human live is in the gameroom

My houseguest Kitty went home this morning. Brother is back stateside and took her back to 29 Palms after two years with me. No more dead animal gifts on the bed for me.

Thanks all for the well wishes! We're now approaching 48 hours without a seizure, so I'm hoping the worst in that regard is behind us. My wife took her to the vet again today to get some fluids -- mainly to try to flush any possible toxins out of her system. They weighed her, and she gained 1/4 pound, which doesn't sound like a lot, but its only been a few days and at least its going up.

Quoted from merccat:

Lovely looking cat and appears pretty young too.

It's hard to tell her age. The vet said her teeth look young, but her hair was more consistent with an older cat. Though, that may just be from being out in the wild.

Quoted from Ericpinballfan:

She's already started to look up at the pins, though she hasn't tried to jump onto one yet. Just what I need, a third cat leaving their paw prints on my invisiglass.

Makes me think the poor cat was dumped and not feral. So many idiots think a pet cat can fend for themselves if they put them somewhere in the wild. Glad you found the poor cat in time.

One of mine was definitely a pet and left by my woods and she is doing great now. I had to battle worms and parasites for a long time due to drinking and eating bad stuff being outside. One of her kidneys had a birth defect and being outside made it worse I’m sure.
