Are the cats that jump on these machines, are they declawed?

I won't let my 2 cats into my pinball room. I'm afraid they'll scratch the machines.

One of my cats uses Mystic to reach the top of a bookshelf. She likes being high up.

While working on bringing my new BOPP back to life, one of the cats jumped in through the coin door ... had to chase him outta there for fear of getting zapped.

The other cat has just recently taken an interest in watching during gameplay -- because their tower is located right next to it, making for an excellent spectator viewpoint! See below.

We adopted a rescue cat (a Russian Blue) a couple of months ago. I thought she was leaving the pins alone, but then I started noticing little paw prints on the playfield glass of most of the pins. I don't know when she's there, but is an obvious attraction. She's still somewhat skittish. I imagine the noise of the pins would drive her away when they are switched on.

My cats climb all over my games and I've never noticed damage, only lots of paw prints that I have to clean off every so often.

This is the "I wonder if mom or dad is going to yell at me for being up here" look. Followed by the "Alright, I'll get comfortable now that I haven't gotten in trouble".

I have footprints all over my machines. I have yet to catch it on them, not sure when the prints appear. Damn sneaky cat.

Our 26 lb cat passed away a little over a year ago before I was heavy into pinball. Cats have always been a part of my life and we'll adding one to the family again. I've been wondering if the glass will break if a large cat jumps from the back box to the play field glass??

Is anyone worried about scratches? I was going to ad a door to the basement to prevent, but would love to hear experiences..

#475 3 years ago

Our cat has all claws but rarely comes into the game room and not open to her unless we're home. No scratches on ours we're but not the best example.

For the cat lovers:

Considering humans can sit on tempered glass without breaking it, you have nothing to worry about with a cat. I've never seen an issue with scratches...the risk of scratches is likely less than allowing humans around your games, including yourself.

Sorry to hear about your cat. Any pics?

Nope, no need to worry about it. My wife and I breed purebred Maine Coons. Large males average 25 to 30 pounds. We have to keep our 2 males separated from our females so the males live in my gameroom. All our cats have claws but we keep plenty of scratching posts around. Added a few pictures so you can get a feel of there size. And yes they love to play some pinball.IMG_0330.JPGIMG_0330.JPG

October is always a good month. Cat show one weekend then pinball show the next.

Very cool! We miss our Maine Coon. We now have a Siberian which is very similar to them yet hypoallergenic or nearly.

Thanks for not taking my comment above too serious, I was in a rare mood last night! Only problem I have with these critters is that they are the only thing in this world that I am allergic to.

So clearly they must be evil...

Apology accepted.

But if you do like cats and allergic, consider a Siberian. Ours tested as 0. http://cfa.org/breeds/breedssthrut/siberian.aspx

Here is a picture of Hunters father Barracuda Blue. AKA the blue lion. Hunter is still young and hasn't grown his full mane yet but so far he is looking just like dad.

Thanks, I'm fascinated with GIANT cats. The following pictures are of the huge cats that make up the bloodline we are breeding.
#1 Volcano of Alwaro, and the rest are from the now retired breeder EL Dorado. #2 Puerto Rico, #3 Fingal, #4 Oregon, #5 Durango, #6 Klondike. <--Almost as big as a German Sheppard!!

PS. Sorry for hogging up the thread. Cats and pinball Love them both.
