Gottlieb '76 Card Whiz, am trying to determine if the "special" kick out hole function is working properly. When the 3 Joker sequence is made, the Rule Set says: Completing the 3 Joker sequence lights the hold alternately for special.

Key word is "alternately", not sure if it means the special goes on/off when the ball goes into the kick out hole...or, if "alternately" means special goes on/off when some other action is made (example, a lane or a sling is hit)?

Anyone know for sure how this is supposed to work? Thanks.

with help from a friend I now understand that the special alternates between being on/off whenever a 10 point function is hit on the play field (either sling, or a passive side sling)...the F relay is activated every time a 10 point target is hit & that in turn triggers the alternating special.

One question on this...in 3 ball play the special lights as it should when all 3 jokers are made. In 5 ball play the special never lights after the jokers are made.

Is this correct or do I have an issue with my Card Whiz?

In 3 ball play, special is constantly lit after 3 jokers are made. In 5 ball play, the special alternates on and off with every 10 points scored. I think the alternating switch is on match unit.

I have a card whiz and the eject hole special light does light up after the 3 jokers are hit for 3 ball play.

But, for 5 ball play after the 3 jokers are hit and 10 point bumper is registered, the light flickers for a second and goes dark. Once the ball goes in the hole, a game is rewarded.

...any idea why the light flickers on the 5 ball game, but fully lights on the 3 ball game?

Quoted from Animal:
