Anyone notice the Bally Space Invaders pin in the movie. They changed the look of the Alien on the back glass it looked goofy. I wonder if that was a copyright issue. Didn’t Bally have to stop producing that game because of the Geiger imagery of the alien?

Did they really have to smash it though? Haha

Yea they didn't need to smash it but it did make for a great scene . My 2 younger kids and i sure did enjoy that movie.

I wonder if there is a backstory to that particular pin in the movie. Someone had to change the image of the alien just to keep that pin in the scene so must be some kind of story.

Pretty sure you nailed it in your first post. Copyright infringement - Alien is owned by Fox but I don’t know if that means Disney also got that imagery - since it’s not technically Alien, but more specifically a Giger ripoff, they probably did that to avoid having to pay off Giger’s Estate.

Bally released a few comic book panels:

And since the game's artwork was basically ripped off from the movie Alien and Bally got sued for it, I'm betting Disney didn't want to navigate that quagmire of copyright ownership (which is kind of ironic since it's disney).

Check the game archive listing here for the lawsuit details:

Everything was period correct except for the Street Fighter II cabinet in the bar with the flatscreen monitor. Seriously??

Yeah SF 2 not original. But hey they did not buy a 1up and try to convince us. Overall well done movie with tie ins to the next installment... and 90s nostalgia

I’m just glad I wasn’t wondering for the rest of the movie what exact year the setting was.
