Trying to get my Captain Fantastic working, it won’t start a game and outhole kicker isn't firing. The Jones plug coming from the coin door looks hacked, with the resistor. Can any CF owners confirm this? Does your game have this resistor?

Thanks,
Jody

Your Outhole kicker problem is likely caused by this M/B score motor sw.

I love how everyone thinks that something they never saw before is a hack.

The only way to learn something that you're not familiar with is to ask questions about it. Nothing wrong with that

Or look at the game schematic.
Also, with EM circuitry, how would adding a resistor here(Or anywhere) affect the ball return from kicking out?

#7 5 years ago

I wasn’t equating the resistor with the ball not being kicked out. The game had five incorrect coils and numerous wires that were very poorly spliced.

I recently purchased a CF as my 1st Em and am trying to learn the ins and outs of the game. If you haven't looked over this site:

It's worth looking over. May help you. There are plenty of folks on this site that are willing to help you out. Was the game working before this problem started?

Why is there a resistor in an EM?

My game has the same thing not sure why

I know this may seem obvious but do you have credits on the game if you don't have any credits game won't start

To be clear,
The game resets and starts up but the outhole kicker does not work? If you kick the ball by hand onto the playfield does everything else work normally including the ball advance and game over?
That resistor is factory but I forgot what it does. Have you looked on the schematic?

If adjusting the score motor switch doesn’t resolve the outhole can you confirm if the coil is working with alligator clips.

I was getting ahead of myself with the outhole kicker. The kicker isn't firing because a new game isn't starting. There are credits on the game, ball in the outsole, bonus stepper is at 'zero', ball count stepper is reset. When credit button is pressed, the score reels reset to zero, but the machine stays in 'game over'.
I've visually checked the Reset and GO Interlock relays for switch movement and contact.
Haven't tested for voltage on any contacts yet.

The resistor is in series with the coin lockout coil on the door. It is meant to reduce arching on the score motor switch contacts when they break and make during a motor cycle.
