However, even if the end-of-stroke switch was shorted to itself, it should not have any effect, it would just provide a very powerful hold on the flipper that would eventually burn up the coil but would NOT do anything if the flipper button was not held. Meaning, the power source must be coming from somewhere. (the entire end-of-stroke switch, meaning both sides/blades, is without power when the flipper button is not held - a fault only in that wiring would not be the source of this kind of problem unless it was shorted against a 50v line)
