I am going through a Captain Fantastic after swapping the playfield and I have a bit of a mystery to solve.
One of my first steps is to check that all switches that fire the score motor are working. I've checked each except the switch on the 10-12 Play Relay. I can't find this relay. On the schematic this relay is connected with a dotted line. Does that mean optional? I've gone to the switch that is supposed to fire the 10-12 Play Relay, which is on the 3rd Coin Chute Relay. The switch with the yellow wire on one side and Grey Black on the other should fire the 10-12 Play Relay. The switch and wires are there, but closing the switch does not seem to do anything, so I can't find the missing relay.

Does anybody know where it is and what it does?

Your answer was in the manual.

That's a good question.

The here below document from the manual says that if you want to have the possibility to get 10 or 12 plays for 1 coin (whatever the coin value), you need to have the pinball equipped with the 3rd Coin Chute relay (factory installed) + the 10-12 Plays Relay (optional as indicated by the dotted line on schematics).

It may not make sense for the US, but in other country like France, at the end of the 70’s, you would've had 1 play for 1 coin of 1 French Franc. And since at this time we also had 10 French Francs coins, having 12 plays for one coin of 10 French Francs would have made sense…
