Hi,

I am having a very strange problem in my Breakshot with the center opto.

The opto is having some inverse logic.
In switch test the opto shows a broken beam with no reason.
When i put my finger on the transmitter to interrupt the beam, it shows an uninterrupted beam.

I have narrowed down the problem to the combined CPU/Powerdriver board. I have installed the board out of a friends Breakshot and everything is working fine.

I assume a bad chip somewhere on the board. Any advice on how to find it?

Best regards,

Sascha

Any Capcom expert in this board???

I haven't seen that sort of opto failure with my Capcom. Anything I could come up with would be a wild guess based on schematics. On your description, it sounds like a gate or buffer chip has failed and is processing the logic backwards.

When you are doing your test, are you unplugging the connector like it says in the display when you start the opto tests? I've never completely understood why it says to do that, but maybe it will turn something up?

Thank you for your reply.
When I unpluck the opto board under the playfield switch test shows an unbroken beam.

But this is the behavior when I break the beam by hand anyway.
