It's a joke. Compy is one of the team members.

I remember when jokes were funny.

not funny.

Quoted from Compy:

Terrible game made by terrible people with terrible intentions.

Sounds like my type of game.

Quoted from Compy:

Terrible game made by terrible people with terrible intentions.
They spent all the pre-order money, and I bet they don't even have the license.

you may want to clarify your inside joke.

To many that dont know you, this reads like:
you have left the company, are no longer working on KingPin, and outing that they are now broke.

Hardly an inside joke when he's been answering questions and representing the company for multiple pages.

yeah, sadly many people still wont put 2 and 2 together.

And we don't know if he left the company and attacked them.

Wouldn't be the first time on Pinside.

This is the internet. People don't read for context or read every post. That said I was like wha?

They took my money and all I got was a translite and a spot on the order list!

Just pmail me before it's go time so I can liquidate enough stuff to come up with the downpayment.

Come on Lloyd. It's hysterically funny!
(Now that I've removed my down vote)

#560 4 years ago

Well, those of you that know James, @compy, or myself, know we are some sarcastic SOBs sometimes.

It's how we keep sane on projects.

Compy hasn't gone anywhere, nor will he. He's an integral part of our three ring circus.

Hey LTG, definitely still part of the company.
We indeed have the license (I was also the one who presented that section of our seminar this past TPF).
The intentions are fantastic, making a great game that should've been made long ago, and adding some optional spice to it!

The team is still terrible, though.

Now, back to Kingpin code.

Yes. Just like when that guy from JJP was fired and leaked the next three game titles on Pinside. Or that guy that had left the company building The Big Lebowski and still threw that huge party at Expo with company money according to posts here that was supposed to go to building games.

HaHaHa. You are right Kim. It's a fucking hoot !

Dang! When I saw all the posts I thought there was big news. Can't wait till these hit production.

Definitely hustling! Working on diagnosing a memory leak issue right now that causes the game to sometimes crash every few hours. These ones are generally the most fun.

Lloyd. I fell for it too and originally down voted Compy. I changed it after the reveal.
I was making fun of both of us.

Compy has informed me it now takes 20% longer to crash. Progress!

The fun part is that it takes several hours (ie: 5-6) to test your changes.

Any chance a game will be at CA Extreme?

#572 4 years ago
Quoted from whitey:

Not the game we built. Not sure if anyone plans to bring their original one, but I know quite often someone bring one to Pin-A-Go-Go.

About the furthest west we go right now is the Texas show TPF. That will likely change once they hit the line and we have games available to ship to buyers.

Paul

. #198 on your list , Thanks !

An original Kingpin is signed up for CAX. If its the one that’s usually there its a bit tired but I still always look forward to playing it.

I’m hoping the new King Pin will be like a CGC LE game ? New and improved version

Color display, finished ruleset and secondary ruleset? Sounds like a dramatic improvement.

Hi Paul, Any thoughts about coming down to the Houston Arcade and Pinball Expo in November? It is also in Texas.

Color display, Led lighting , Chrome trim?
Topper , side art or mirror blades
Score cards , turn key ! No mods needed

They'd be best off keeping the entry price as low as possible, in the current market, IMO. Let the aftermarket deal with chrome or powder coating, toppers, blades etc.

It will have a color display and new updated graphics/gameplay on the 2.0 software side of things. Display will be something similar to TNA/Alice Cooper and the newer Stern games as far as size. This will be standard on all games. There is someone interested in coloring the original dots too, but not sure if/when this will happen and if it will be bundled in with the game or if it will be offered aftermarket.

All of the games will be LED since we are using the same boardset from Mulimorphic as TNA/Alice Cooper/Houdini/etc.

We don't really believe in taking gameplay features out on a lower model, so that will be the same along any models. We haven't decided if the additions from Back Alley Creations will be standard on all games or not yet. Depends on how it fits into the overall BOM.

There was an original topper for the game which we are exploring.

The game we currently bring to shows has "satin" blades on them instead of mirror blades. It's more of a brushed metal look than mirrored. Not sure where we will land on what if anything will be offered on this. As the Back Alley coolness will likely cover a good portion of the sides in the game.

I don't think we will have more than 2 or 3 models of the game. Possibly a base version with the standard plastics/art, and an upper model with the back alley stuff, and whatever other bells and whistles we will offer.

CAX actually has two originals side by side! One in power meter mode and the other in ball play mode. Going to be an awesome show!

Wow, that's something you don't see everyday!

I got way back into this game after CAX today. I sort of wrote off the chance at owning one. I hope the remake comes together soon.

Quoted from zucot:

This could have been Mark Ritchie’s next masterpiece. After playing it I thought it was friggen fun as hell. From the modes and weakened flipper challenge to the game over animations. Shots were fast and challenging. This will be in my collection someday!

#588 4 years ago

It's also the machine I played the most and had the most fun playing at CAX. I've only previously played a few games at TPF which I also enjoyed. But I got further in the game this time, and got beyond finding the loot in the vault.

What struck me is how much one of my favorite games - Sopranos - borrowed from this title. I had a number of "Wow, this game did it first" moments. You know what they say about imitation, and this game got lots of things right, so I'm not surprised they were borrowed and built upon. I wouldn't mind if the alternate rule set returned the favor in some ways, and again extended the ideas.

#589 4 years ago

So, will there be a game at Replay?

#590 4 years ago

...and Big Bang Bar was right next to both Kingpins! Played them all a bunch, and I came away thinking that if I had the chance to buy either a re-pop BBB or Kingpin, I'd go with Kingpin. I think the gameplay is more fun (just my opinion), and with updated code it should be that much better.

#591 4 years ago
Quoted from bladerunner:

So, will there be a game at Replay?

Unfortunately we won't be at Replay, so our game won't be there.

Not sure of anyone local that would bring out their original. I think the majority of originals are in Southern California.

I heard from a good source that BBBR is next ? What doesn’t make sense is 2 Capcom pins made with different manufacturers

I'd wait until they are rolling down the assembly line before trying to make any sense.

Well it is pinball ! As long as they keep building games IDC

Rumor is CGC may make BBBR. But no way of knowing if we'll ever see it.

Circus Maximus was in Chicago awhile back talking to various manufacturers. So they may hire one to do it, or do it themselves.

So if Circus Maximus hires CGC to build Kingpin, and if CGC makes BBBR. Then it wouldn't be different manufacturers.

Only time will tell.

Only thing for sure is anyone wanting a Big Bang Bar or a Kingpin. I hope your chance to own one comes true.

Looking forward to buying a reproduction when they are made. Heres some pictures from when we owned a original King Pin for a while. The one we owned had a speaker grill plastic from capcom pinball magic installed. I was told it left the factory that way. So if u see that speaker grill it was the one we had

Fun fact.... the game with standing up on its bottom wrapped in a blanket with duct tape when we went to buy it. The ground was carpeted. As you can see in picture 3 the head is on the ground flat and body is vertical. We wanted to look at it before we paid for the game, as we took the duct tape off we thought the head was shrink wrapped... nope... the head slammed down on the ground so hard I thought we broke the cabinet... shit our pants moment. Nothing happened to the head thank god for the carpet. Took the picture two seconds later for the memory lol

How you holding up @compy?

Look at the backglass. The top 1/4th of it. Gangster holding the gun. The topper looked like that.
