    Ceramic caps like that are typically used as 'bypass' capacitors to filter out small spikes at the integrated circuit power pins.
    For a time base circuit like that one - a more stable film type capacitor should be used. Something like a Nichicon QYX2A104KTP or QYX2A104JTP.
