    Quoted from Beaumistim:

well my dog of 13+ years died suddenly this morning. was hopping through the front room , right before i was about to leave and all of the sudden all four of his legs just kinda fell out from under him. then he couldnt get up. so i change my plans, take him directly to the vet, and we went to him walking a little, to barely breathing, then in about a minute or two completely gone. my kids were upset, my wife was upset, and i thought i was handling it well, but once i laid down to sleep, i cant sleep and got pretty emotional to myself. RIP to my main man Casper, your greatly missed![quoted image]

Is the family starting to feel any better?

    #102 4 years ago

I am sorry for your loss. You will always have the good memories of times with Casper. Keep those as you move on and hopefully the pain lessens.

    #103 4 years ago

It's a very hard thing to get over. But it does get better with time. You and your family will always remember Casper and the joy he brought in to your lives.
I lost my best friend, Reuben, last April. He was 13 1/2. It was one of the hardest things I ever had to deal with.
    Hang in there

well, my youngest pup is showing some real signs of depression. i never knew you were supposed to let them see and smell your dead pets. we had casper cremated and never brought him home. Ace the younger pup spends hours walking around the house, outside, all over looking for casper. its truly heartbreaking. now im like we need to get him another companion, but i also think its to damn soon.

Sorry bud, going through it now. Had to bury my girl yesterday and found this pic today from better days. Dogs & Cats are family. Hang in there[quoted image]

What a beautiful Calico kittie. My wife and I just lost our Calico cat after treating her for kidney failure for the past 2 years. We miss her a ton.

To the OP: sorry for your loss, a loss of a pet is very hard to go through. They are family.

Kissy and Hopper extend a paw.
    Hang in there.

She was the best. Not that I’m rating all my pets either but probably next to my first dog, hardest to let go. I still have dreams she is running around the house

I just wanted to touch base with you and see how you are doing? How is your family?

Hope u r doing better. My shiba inu has about 2 good years left and my only wish is that my infant daughter remembers my kiba. God bless.

Hopefully that is a silver lining of this whole "stay at home" situation. You can spend more time with family and fur friends.

My dogs have been LOVING having me at home all the time.

    #113 4 years ago

sorry man, we lost half our pets in the tornado around the same time. Our new living arrangements can't have pets so we had to find homes for the others. As sad as it is I have had bigger things to worry about so it has helped ease the pain some.

Dogs are family. Sorry for your loss

    #115 4 years ago

So sorry to hear of your dog passing. It sounds like he at least passed quickly and with no pain. That's the most we can hope for - a painless passing in the company of those we love.

Found out today our dog likely has cancer - he is going into surgery on Tuesday.

Anyone ever cried and played pinball at the same time?

Not yet, but I'm sure my time will come. Hang in there friend. It's not easy but time will help take the sting away.

We lost our Welsh Pembroke Corgi “Ronan” to hip disease and lung cancer when he turned 13 about 4 years ago. I made a memorial album and it made me feel a lot better:

I also started a Facebook group, “Wheelchair Dogs” a few months before he died, and it’s grown exponentially since then. I’d like to have another Corgi when I retire, or maybe sooner since I’m stuck at home now anyway. Dogs really are the glue that hold families together.

    Any pupdates to share?

Hoping he's getting a better outlook..

He is a very small dog (12 lbs) - but he is 9 years old. Many people think he is still a puppy when we go to parks. He has the surgery next Tuesday (April 7).

If removed and it is stage 1 he should be able to live for several years, if not it really depends on how fast it spreads. We'll find out more after the surgery. I'll update you guys after that.

Thanks for all the support and kind words everyone.

Our corgi "Zoe" had hip disease, was heartbreaking seeing her try to drag her hind legs around.
    Corgi's are super dogs!!

My heart goes out to all of you - one of the hardest thing I’ve had to in 13 years was help my baby girl make the leap over the rainbow bridge this morning.

just found this thread and sorry for everyone's loss - they are truly valuable members of the family.

We lost out 14.5 yr Jack Russel - Kipper last week, went to the vet as suddenly not well (pancreatitis) then a few days later they said to come and see her progress (was positive) but in a space of overnight and then 1hr before seeing her she went down hill fast and pressured to put her down immediately. This was very sad but worse because it happened so fast that the kids missed out on saying goodbye - our son was gutted.

Then to add lost my job today - hopefully not a 3rd thing coming...
