My plan was to sell my sega Harley Davidson and stern Nascar to fund the purchase of a met pro. I was able to sell the harley and use some money I won in vegas to buy the met. So my next plan was to sell nascar and shadow to fund a stle or ac/dc luci...now after selling my nascar I just cant bring myself to sell the shadow. The game plays perfectly, playfield is fantastic with almost no sanctum wear and a clean cabinet. I know if I sell I will never get one in this shape and will regret it. So now my dilema is to either use the cash from nascar to buy a b list game, sit on the cash until a NIB can be purchased or sell one of my other titles. I would'nt get much for the black pyramid and don't want to part with my classic 80's pins either. Maybe I need to go back to vegas.....

....or win the lottery

#2 10 years ago

sit on the cash and save

#3 10 years ago

yeah, I would sit and wait also. I regret selling my shadow and I probably will never get another one. just my opinion. shadows are not for sale too often, so finding one later is not always easy.

#4 10 years ago

Sit and wait. Patience is the hardest attribute to abide by in this hobby but it really is the intelligent and rewarding thing to do.

#5 10 years ago

Sit and wait. I love my Shadow

#6 10 years ago

I think everyone knows what I think of The Shadow by now. Keep it! I want a Star Trek too, but no way I'm selling my Shadow to fund it, gonna be patient instead. Wait out the code and Karl Urban pack in the process too I guess.

If you want to see how my alt translite spiffs it up in person you're welcome to make the trip out from Riverside to Torrance.

#7 10 years ago

Sit on it Potsie

If you still enjoy playing it, play on player!

#8 10 years ago

You know, they aren't making them any more..
Hang on to it, sell your car instead.
Just sayin'

#9 10 years ago

Shadow is a piece of trash, sell it now, before it's to late. Specifically, sell it to me... Seriously.

Keep Black Pyramid while you are at it. Love that game

You've convinced me! Who wants my 1990 Cutlass with 190,000 miles? Best offer takes it so I can get a Shadow!

You have learned well, Grasshopper.

It is trash, I set mine out on the street during bulk trash last week. Was gonna call you but I misplaced your number. Oh well.

Love the game but don't know a lot about the mechanicals. Know of one that "might" be for sale but the guy "holding on to it for his friend" says it's so beat and hacked that it's not even fun to work on. And this guy works on A LOT. what would be a fair offer for such a beat shadow? If an expert (and I mean EXPERT) says it's beat is it even worth it? Any advice is appreciated.

Too hard to say without details and pics. Possible to get them?

Definitely possible. I will try and get all the details. The guy he's holding onto it for has so many games (80+) he can't store them all so maybe he'll be open to reasonable offers. Really like that game.

Just make sure it is all there and the phurba diverters are not broken.
Make sure it has all the Mongols, they are hard to find.

#18 10 years ago

Someone is about to make some replacement mongols apparently.

My Shadow is sitting here sad and shooter-less. Good news is that's because it's waiting for a Mike Chestnut replacement to arrive.

Love that translight!
Would you make me one if I ever bought a Shadow?

#20 10 years ago

Translight is AWESOME! Way better than the original!

#21 10 years ago

So I spent the last 90 minutes gettin my ass kicked while alec baldwin smirked at me the whole time...this game is not going anywhere anytime soon...just gonna sit back and wait for the resources to come from somewhere else to fund new game.

Would be happy to. I only have two free on the run I'm having done now, not sure what I'll do after this run, the only catch is that I have a minimum order I have to meet with the printer, so the future is always uncertain in that way.

Every time I think it's tapped more people show up asking me for it though, so who knows!

Quoted from PinballKen:

Thanks.

The thing I love about The Shadow is you can just turn it on and play. It's challenging enough to suck you in completely, but at the same time it's just fun to flip. You can just go for Vengeance or something, play some fast and involved pinball without having to worry about stacking strategies etc.

If I had known about this alternate art package coming I wouldn't have sold mine to Cosmo.
The stock speaker panel is worse than the translite.

Yup, you're so right, it's the worst, I hated it way more than Baldwin. I'm actually surprised no one before me tried to making a new matching speaker panel to go with a translite design, but I guess it's a lot more work and time and money and no one cared enough.

I definitely cared enough, love this pin, and since I'm a graphic designer it was just a natural to want to try it. I'd be happy to own it even looking stock though, the magic is on the playfield, which looks just fine.

Good man. It's people like you who forced me to import mine from Oregon, no one in California wanted to sell me theirs!

#26 10 years ago

I'm having to sell mine, and I absolutely hate it. It was totally a "keeper" for me.

(Damn financial complications... *grumble* *grumble*)

#27 10 years ago

Lol, I'm in the same boat kosmo...I had planned to sell it to fund an AC/DC but I had second thoughts, I know I will probably never be able to find another one in my area if I sell it. I have 2 buyers salivating for it right now....

Yeah I think thats where Im at...most of these are finding their way into collections and staying there...too hard to replace.

#29 10 years ago

If I'm to be completely honest, to me, The Shadow > AC/DC.

#30 10 years ago

Got rid of my Shadow and never looked back. $1500 game that nowadays you hear $2900 is a good price. Meh.

Played it at the Silverball Museum on Friday. Phurbas are cool. That's it. If you've beat the game, let it go. Get something new. Get Shadow when it's $1500 again.

If everyone who ever had it kept it then the hobby would be crappy, pins have to move around to keep things interesting. So it wasn't for you, hopefully whoever bought it enjoyed it more.

I understand that. I've been collecting for 10 years now. He's already decided to let it go, but he's having trouble because it's so nice. He's gonna feel the same way when he goes to get rid of the game that replaces his Shadow. Keeping a game just because it looks so nice isn't really all that fun. Life's too short. Switch them out!

I guess it is for some people, but I hear that. My Shadow still gets regular play, it's not a museum piece.

#34 10 years ago

Well i would go this route, if you really wanna have the new game sooner than later...

Sell your SI, if it is in exceptional shape..

Those can command high teens to low 2's in high end restored shape, and seem to bring 12-15 for above average shape..

Although your in Cali right ?.. your mileage may vary for the positive there...

I think SI is the weakest player in your collection, but bringing the most bang for the resale right now for ya, for what you probably have in it...

Si + nascar money = new pin..

Almost done with this Shadow for a customer ... This game is pretty sweet ! I had mike chestnut do the ramps and I hand polished all the metal with a 0000 fine steel wool . I also added all new star post, clear rubbers, all flippers rebuilt , decals to all targets , flame polished and triple waxed . I also am waiting on the alternate translite . This game is a ton of fun and plays like butter .

Wow, that's nice. I'll get you that translite as soon as I can, just waiting for the printer to get it run off.

So did you hand polish the habitrails instead of getting them replated? I'm afraid when I get my shooter from Mike that I'll be tempted to do those next ...
