    Quoted from Smack:

For any people who have travelled with pinball parts, is taking new pinballs in your carry on a bad idea? Seems like it could be problematic.
I am visiting family in the USA over Xmas and was thinking about bringing a few things back if I can save on shipping. Has anyone travelled with pinballs as carry on?

I would call the border, ask them. Make sure you get their name or badge number.

I ordered my arcade1up stools for $90 each (Pac-Man, Marvel, Galaxian, and Star Wars) from the brick. I picked them up same day.

    #3418 2 years ago
    Quoted from pinballjah:

They would do it as part of their service. You just bring the parts as is to the powdercoater. Few I have done.

    Wow! Looks great!

    Quoted from dirkdiggler:

Sounds good. Or if $20 each seems reasonable, we could do a group order or something to save on shipping. Buddy has about 100 game marquees available.
I just finished boxing my Dr. Mario marquee. Going to install a brighter bulb when I can get in to buy one.

    Quoted from Saltimbanco:

Oh, and so we don't fully derail any chance of getting a pinball topic: damn those pinball prices are really something, aren't they..!

I dying to get a Stranger Things and Spider-Man but can’t afford either right now.

    #3576 2 years ago

    I haven’t seen a YSR 50/80 in so long! I loved the one I had(50)!

Quoted from Paseb:i must be an exception, but i hate all the new pins with big LCD.
i like the older 90s pin. I collect bunch of old honda bikes, ct70, z50, motra, motocompo, ez cub 90, ysr50, etc etc. and drive a porsche 993.
    it's old school for me.
it's just bad for me who got recently in the hobby.

    #3579 2 years ago
    Quoted from Paseb:

    I got 3x
    2x that i ride and 1x in my office (81km original)[quoted image][quoted image]

That’s awesome! Quite jealous! Nice Porsche as well!

    Hello

I need to ship from Saskatoon to Windsor. How do I go about doing that? Approximately how much would it cost? Who does that?

    Jeff

    Quoted from pins4life33:

Your best bet would be to get a get a quote from Day and Ross.

    Thank you!

    #3672 2 years ago
    Quoted from transprtr4u:

best to phone for the quote .... waaaaaaay cheaper that on line!

I did call them. They sent me a great quote. Now just to set up with the guy selling it to me.

    Quoted from luch:

and write done the quote number , so they don't change the price later

They sent me an email with a written quote.

    Thank you for the help!

There are 4 problems with buying in the states. Exchange, tax, customs brokerage fees and shipping.

    #3785 2 years ago

Thank you for letting me get the Ibtl award!

Quoted from Saltimbanco:I've come to believe that buying NIB is now the cheapest way around the resellers' crazy market prices.

    #3788 2 years ago

I think it’s the thrill of it! They get way too excited to “Win” the auction. I don’t think they realize they are overpaying for the piece.

Quoted from pins4life33:It blows my mind how many uneducated people are in auctions, it is like a Casino where the people have too much money and can’t help themselves but to really overpay for items.

    #3789 2 years ago

I’m sure most have buyers remorse.

    #3795 2 years ago

When COVID isn’t an issue we tend to be in Michigan at least once a month. Everything is way less expensive. I will end up getting my Stranger Things over there. Two of my pins and one of my arcades came from The States.
I have an F-150 I have no issue going over and picking up, however right now there are way too many restrictions with COVID.
You are exactly right the prices are outrageous here with way less selection. Most here have way overpaid for what we have and are not willing to lose money on what we have purchased.

    Quoted from Meegis:

Brokerage and shipping is heavily dependent on your willingness to travel. So this is only an issue for some people, but completely hear you. (Even though ironically you live in windsor, so you are literally minutes away from the border.
Exchange rate is a bitch but can (and will) fluctuate. My biggest issue here is something I've brought up for many years.
If our dollar bounces back, will people in Canada reflect the same price disparity in their pins? Sadly, the answer is most Canadians will not lower their price even if the game is now "worth less". In fact, prices here have only been going up, so much so, we have well outpaced our neighbors to the south.
And finally tax. Yes, it sucks. Yes it's 13% here in Ontario, but out west a lot of people take advantage of the tax being 5%. On toys breaking 5 figures, the 8% swing is noticable but still just sadly part of the pricetag of living in the great white north.
And to be fair, too many sellers up here tell others that's why Canadian private sale games cost more.
Sorry for the wall of text

    #3816 2 years ago

So many pinball machines for sale on Kijiji! Quite a few have been there for quite a long time.

    #3818 2 years ago

    Lmao!

    Quoted from Fytr:Those are factory...

I haven’t received mine yet and I’m kind of angry about it! I haven’t paid for one or even ordered, but that doesn’t matter I still want it!

Quoted from OCP2:Anybody received their DP from player 1? Alot folks below the border have received them.

    2 weeks later
    #3876 1 year ago

I use JETS Customs ! He was amazing and went over and above to help me!

    #3878 1 year ago

What did you do at the border? Claim it and go in to do the import paperwork, and pay the taxes? Was that before COVID when you didn’t have to do all the Canpass app information? Just curious, I like going over to the states to shop so when all this is done I will probably just bring them in myself! I really miss The Olive Garden! I no longer feel like family! Lol

Quoted from guard:If you're still in Kincardine just have it shipped to a depot in Detroit and pick it up. I used Beltman to ship from Missouri a few years ago to there and the whole thing was smooth as silk.

    #3881 1 year ago

I almost always claim the right amount. I have brought a bigger item over, they sent me in, then they looked up the MSRP even though I had the proper receipts. They charged me on what they thought it was worth new as opposed to the used price from the pawn shop. I had to go online to prove what I paid. They still charged me the new price. I was talking about how some machines are made in the states some aren’t so how does he get the paperwork to show where it was made. Some things need different papers to import them. I really do want to bring some back on my own. It wold save me quite a bit of money.

Quoted from dnaman:Claim everything accurately if going over the boarder, it is not worth trying the shave the amount down and get caught. I have heard horror stories and they are wise to pinflation. They want their taxes. Now, if everything goes well, someone just might waive you through and you won a mini lottery but otherwise just pay the piper and move forward.

There is a forum for that. Looking for Playfields thread (Buy, sell, trade)

    Quoted from Apollo18:

    Back glass replacement
    Or custom back glass.
    Like you see on LEs.
Anyone know how or where ?
    Please advise. Thank you.

Still no signal! I’m close enough to the border I’m thinking I might just switch to a US number. Cheaper, better service, and better signal.

Who does playfield restoration in the Windsor, Ontario area?

    #4052 1 year ago

Yes, I was thinking the same!

Quoted from BMHouze:You would probably have more luck across the river in Michigan.
    More pinball everything.....
I bet Clay at VFW has someone or knows someone close to Ann Arbor.

    #4056 1 year ago

I keep 99% around the house and in the truck at all times! When one of our buildings had a bedbug infestation the pest control company sprayed themselves with it after leaving the units! Now it’s a regular thing for me after leaving that building!

Quoted from Tranquilize:Yes, they sell the 50% mix, but you need the 99% for cleaning electronics. Costco four packs are a steal!

Zep spray bottles are perfect for one bottle plus water mix.

When I ordered from Pinball Medics everything came super fast! Great service for sure!

Quoted from pinmeds:We are actually about to announce that we are carrying Ball Baron Balls exclusively as our old Inventory is now depleted at the main Ottawa location we ship from.
There are none at the Montreal retail location yet, but they are ready to ship via Canada Post.
Always select Regular Parcel and I will upgrade to Xpresspost with tracking and $100 insurance in Quebec and Ontario, and I upgrade to Expedited parcel with tracking and $100 insurance for the rest of Canada.
I have Ball Baron Ninja, Polaris, and Standard available.
I should have them listed on the site next week, but in the meantime you can call me any time on 613-223-6108 as I do have all three types in stock already.
And keep an eye on the site, they'll be up there soon!

It depends on the pin in this area. There has been a great condition and good price Spider-Man for sale on Kijiji for a very long time with no movement the guy has dropped the price 2X already. There are just a few people that buy, and don’t pay Pinside prices! Most are people here are tire kickers and have the wife won’t let me excuse, or I’d buy it if you were just a little closer, I don’t have a way to pick it up. You will see them on Pinside!

    #4149 1 year ago

Is it the BSD that was for sale on Kijiji in an apartment near Toronto?

    #4153 1 year ago

No, I was considering buying it at the time. But I haven’t played it. So I decided to wait for either Stranger Things or Spider-Man.

Quoted from Waffles:Yeup! Bought it in April(?)
I got data east simpsons and find that it's oddly a very similar game.
I enjoy playing BSD but my wife and friends don't want to touch that game because it's so mean.
    Was it your BSD?

Are pallets really that hard to get. We have them all over the place here! Just go to a manufacturing shop. They have them piled up for free!

    #4180 1 year ago

There is something very wrong about the way you think!! I love it! Lol

Quoted from transprtr4u:how many Canadians does it take to ship a pinball machine ?

    1 month later
    #4257 1 year ago

I know unless the price of everything else comes down the pins will stay where they are! Some Americans might bring them across the border but I highly doubt it. Businesses are shutting fast in Windsor. It’s only going to get worse before it gets better.
