Quoted from Stretch7:I was just happy I was able to do 2 of my favourite things
Drink beer and play pinball
Amen brother!
Kk this I wierd but... I'm just gonna say a few things! Lol sorry I'm not a super outgoing cat! But I'm gonna give it my best shot....
I'm Jamie I'm and Ironworker and I love good beer! Which led me to find my love of pinball! (2years into the hobby now) I travel for work lots and have been lucky enough over the last year to work in both Saskatoon and calgary for prolonged periods of time. During both times I had a chance to experience both cities pinball scenes. Also my brothers are out in Winnipeg playing in their league. So great things are happening all around us.
I have to say I'm jealous! Also I am always hearing of the great things the yegpin/diehard guys are doing out in Edmonton. (So excited to be there this year) and of course Vancouver. Well why is it Regina is always the last to get anything!?!?
I know I'm just a regular blue collar cat and most likely a small fish in a whales hobby but here is my shot at creating some kinda spark for a tournament scene in Regina!
Im going to be 100% transparent! my main objective is to get a tournament scene going in this city. I would like to organize a mini event that is taking from both the yegpin outline and the collaborative that is happening at Atlantic trap and grill as inspiration and a guide.
I have already talked to a few locations and have atleast two on board. To let me host a mini tournament event/meet and greet. By doing so I hope to bring together people to meet each other and after we are comfortable with each other possibly hold home tournaments if it ends up working out.
If you have the pinball flu as bad as I do and your from Regina or surrounding area and are willing to bring a machine or just attend my event please pm me and we can see what we can do.
I will be bringing 2-3 of my machines, I have atleast one friend that will bring 1 machine and possibly one more but that person is on the fence still. I would like to have 6 tournament machines minimum and minimum of 30 people to hold the event as well as I'm talking to a few guys I have met since being in the hobby to try get atleast 1 em and one early ss as well for people to play. Please pm me if any of this rambling appeals to you. Hell even pm me and give me crap for clogging up your thread I don't care lol. Looking forward to hearing from anyone, sorry for the rant clogging up the thread!
There is some rumor since I've been back in town that some bum is flipping around the mean pubs of Regina calling himself the provincial champ! Bull! More like provincial cramp! I'm issuing this challenge to any comers! It's gonna be an all out knockem down draggem out slobber knocker!!!! If you have the silver balls to show up you can face the real Champ!!!!! (See he has the belt, it's gotta be true!)
Quoted from shaub:Damn right there is! And he's ready to meet you on the clearcoated plywood battleground anytime, anywhere!
Oh look who decided to chime in!!!! Grrrrr... You can run! Far and wide!!! But when the silver balls roll that Sunday! You will have NO PLACE TO HIDE!!!!! Oooooooohhhhhh YEAH!!!!!
Quoted from Meegis:This thread took a turn I'm not enjoying.
Sorry it was all in good fun. I'll zip it now.
Sorry I did forget to mention I suggested to donate the proceeds of the tournament to a charity when I was talking to the place to host it. It is non profit.
Cool thanks very much! Definately cheaper then eBay. Hopefully it arrives before yegpin so I can bring it along.
419-1 is that for a jamma board? Do you know if konami crime fighters arcade would be compatable with that? Sorry don't know much about arcades and what is what.
Quoted from earflaps:The way the market is...with "B" Williams/Bally games selling for 5K on average, you're not far off thinking that a recent NIB game should sell for close to what it was new. Let's face it, the market is crazy right now...and I thought it was crazy 3 years ago. Depending on the shipping and taxes, most Stern Pros are 8K when they arrive at your door. Considering that if you can find someone actually moving one and they've looked after their shiny new toy, I don't think asking 7K for a "like new" game is all that far off. I know I would have gladly paid $6800 cash for slightly used Stern Pro before buying my NIB MET Pro last month...just sayin'.
With this all being said shouldn't there be a difference between recently nib huo and recently nib routed? No attack on anyone just stating my thoughts. With thinking this way it is the reason for the "market" being so crazy priced.
I agree that condition is king and I agree that huo and routed is a blurry line because it is case by case not just a general statement. The thing is with routed games there are things that are out of even the best/most consistent operator. For instance the woz that is at rebellion was being played by some huge guy and he smashed the glass on the machine. That is something that wouldn't be happening in a huo environment. Well I hope anyways. Like I said it's not a dig at you at all pokey I have mad respect for you it's just my perspective on the way the market is.
Quoted from Meegis:I've seen glass smash in people's homes
And is it a huo if it's been used in league play?
Blurry is an understatement</blockquotePoint taken I agree but there are multiple things. I've played on locations and the glass is sticky with beer. Having drink holders on the machine, someone other then you using non proper cleaning product on the cabinet. Also play numbers.

Point taken I agree but there are multiple things. I've played on locations and the glass is sticky with beer. Having drink holders on the machine, someone other then you using non proper cleaning product on the cabinet. Also play numbers. As I said prior it's just my opinion and I'm entitled too it. I don't think there is even a comparison on which machine takes more abuse.
I don't know how other people play their games at the house but there's no beers on my machines or hammer fisting going on.
That being said I have lots of experience playing pokeys machines and I know he was nonstop on his matinance/upkeep and would see him out once or twice a week at places on his route prior to having the cafe. He also urges people to take his number and text him if any problems arise so he can get them fixed before they wreck more stuff.
No
Quoted from smokedog:Hey, no worries. The market stinks for everyone.
99% of all pins made before 1998 were routed at some point in their life. People still over pay for those.
*shrug* It is what it is.
No I agree and the key point is people over pay and that is what is driving the price up. When people are adding in things like tax and import fees for others to buy local and they don't have a business. And the crazy thing is people are paying those prices.
Quoted from dirkdiggler:I thought about stopping but the Masters were on and still had a 2hr drive. Next time I'll stop by for a cuban lunch for sure!
I suggest it! The food was delicious. I bought a second meal just to take for lunch!
What is that between met and gb? Also wow!!! An afm and sm both there too! Looks like an insane line up.
Go play the areosmith! I played a game on it yesterday in Calgary and it seemed awesome! I can't remember the name of the place it's on 33rd zarios or something
Quoted from smokedog:https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/vids-quick-and-dirty-rotisserie-guide
Mine is similar. Works great.
Thanks pokey I'll check that out after work! Have a good day all!
Very exciting news coming out of Regina!!! We have a location and date set up for a tournament and meet and greet for all pinballers in and around town! Details to follow soon. Please follow Queen City Pinball Facebook page. Also will be posting progress in the Anybody have pins for sale in Canada? thread here on pinside. If you have any interest please pm me for more info. We need tourney players and if your interested in bringing a game to the event that would be awesome. Already have enough machines for a tournament but won't turn anyone down that is interested in bringing another!!!
Cheers and thanks for your time
Jamie
Yea it will be IFPA sanctioned. The date is June 25th location to be announced later this week. There will be between 6-8 machines. We would also like to be associated with SAPP if that is alright with you. Trying to start a scene here like you guys have going there. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Quoted from smokedog:We should have a meeting. You'll need at least 2 people to organize and do admin stuff. Meet at the cafe for a SAPP executive meeting!
That sounds excellent. I'll talk with Shaun and we will set up a date to come up. Maybe one day this weekend or next week sometime. I gotta spoil momma this weekend as its Mother's Day and she let me go to yegpin last weekend. I'll be in touch ASAP.
Quoted from Dee-Bow:those are 4 of my most favourite things! do volunteers for the queen city tourney need to meet at pokey's as well?! i think i better join them on this road trip!
Yes my brother you know your always included! And add one of those Cuban burgers with chorizo and an egg!!! And those fries!
Well I can now officially announce this! Sunday June 25 Queen City Pinball is holding an event!!!! Where you ask? Well none other then Rebellion Brewery! 1130 am is when warm ups begin! 1pm is when tourney starts! 20$ entry fee that includes your first pint!!!! If you don't drink I will cut you a deal just tell me. 15$ If you don't want the pint. If you support pinball in Regina or surrounding area I hope to see you out there, cheers.
Also other exciting news to follow!!! Keep your eyes peeled! Hope to have your support! There will be 6-8 machines on location on June 25th. If you would like to contribute a machine to the show let me know. There will be prizes for top competitors as well as some other prizes for the rest of us!!! We will be posting on the Queen City Pinball Facebook page as well as here. See you guys soon!
Tickets will be available in advance at either Rebellion brewery or if you pm me, Gorno, Dee-Bow or Shaub! This will be an IFPA registered event but I am personally more interested in the meet and greet aspect of the event to grow the local community! Cheers in advance and I hope to have your support and see you out there! Super excited!
Jamie
No worries! And thanks a lot for the support guys! Also congrats the cafe is definately awesome! Great food, great atmosphere and great place to hang out. I would be there all the time if we had something like that here!
Pints and pins tourney at rebellion brewery has officially sold out. Pretty excited. Hopefully we can get a league going after this.
Is there any place to play pins in swift current? Will be working there this weekend and possibly a few days next week. Also is there anywhere in swift to watch the mcgregor vs mayweather fight tomorrow night? Possibly the casino? Or a sports pub?
Quoted from jesperpark:Complete with our old oil jobs and money, and even a better premier than we have.
Saskies been manning the rigs in Alberta and bring the cash back home long before the crash.
Hey just wondering if anyone in regina has a spare flipper coil FL-11630/50v for a Williams. Cheers and thanks.
Quoted from FlipperFreak:Absolutely. We'll also have the rest of the JJP lineup, Houdini from AP, Thunderbirds from Homepin, Alien LE from Heighway, The Big Lebowski from Dutch/Xytech, the entire series from Chicago Gaming (including CE, SE & LE models), plus latest from Stern and a few surprises we'll announce shortly before the show.
Unreal I cannot wait.
There are a few places to play they are all on the pinside map. Best place is rebellion brewery. Lots of the machines around town could use some tweaking. But we do have machines to play atleast. Hopefully we get something going soon. Need a league here.
Quoted from jedi42:Any pinsiders from Regina that have a regular league night that I might be able to get into while I am in the city (March 2-10)?
I'm also in to play some pins.
I think possibly Canadian tire. I know they used to have them with hockey team logos on them. And if you hit them during one of their sales they are cheap.
Next Thursday is Queen City Pinballs 4th tournament. It will be held at the Black Arrow Social Club at 639 Victoria ave. Regina, Sask. Games go on freeplay by 6 and tourney matches start at 7. Great food from Pho Milu which is attached and great local beer from District Brewing for only 5$. Hope to see you guys out there. Come support local Pinball. 10$ entry fee, all skill levels welcome.
Quoted from dirkdiggler:Odd question but going on a roadie tomorrow.
Any good bars/restaurants or cool roadside attractions from saskatoon to yorkton?
There are pins on location in Melville I believe. Like Matt’s family fun centre or something.
Quoted from freezie:Just a thanks to Pinhead306 , he invited me over from ten cancer lodge to play some pins ! It was nice to chat with another pinhead ! Top notch fella !
No worries, thanks for coming over, I definitely get the most enjoyment out of my collection when there are others to share it with. I had a great time talking pins and playing some games. And it was cool to meet another person passionate about the hobby.
Hey Calgary guys, any idea of where a guy could search for a furnished basement suite or something to rent for 3+ months? I accepted a callout for work there and I need a furnished place for 3 guys. I have been looking at Airbnb so far but looking for something I can rent monthly. Job is supposed to be on the west side I think.
Never mind I found what I was looking for. Rentfaster.ca Hope to make a bunch of your tourneys, see you Monday at pinbar.
Quoted from northerndude:Anywhere in Moose Jaw to get a game in to try a different machine or two? Heading down next weekend, the oldest has Track provincials down there.
No place in Moose Jaw that I know of.
Quoted from dirkdiggler:They say alcohol and drug sales are up during the pandemic. I know I'm helping the stats. Lol[quoted image]
Holy moly!!! Your ready for the apocalypse!
Quoted from dirkdiggler:With the amount of beer we go thru I can't afford to be a beer snob. Ha. Pil was cheapest this week. Too bad Costco doesn't have any liquor stores in Saskatchewan.
Regina Costco has a liquor store. Not sure of stoon but I would think they do.
Quoted from Stretch7:Anyone in Regina can help a fellow out with some legs. I sold a black hole last month to a guy in Regina and long story short the tried to steal it out of his basement. Good news they were unsuccessful but got away with keys and legs. He's not on pinside so i figure i reach out here and see if anyone has some legs locally he could purchase and get him back to playing his game.
I have a 4 extra legs laying around but I think one might be different length then the other 3. Maybe Dylan (archer600) would have 4 matching legs or between him and I we could get him a set. I travel home tomorrow for my week off I can have a better look at the ones I have then.
Quoted from DaveBen:Wondering if anyone could point me towards somewhere in Canada I can purchase flipper rubbers for my GNR SE. Looks like the U.S. suppliers want to rape me with shipping costs. Thanks
Where are you located? Maybe nitro? Or pinball medics ?
In reference to what guns are “designed “ to do they are actually a tool to hunt with and put food on your families table. Hunters and responsible gun owners do not consider them “toys that are fun to play with”. Hunters are a huge part in the funding of conservation projects and keeping animal populations in good health. There are also clubs for recreational target shooting no different then our pinball clubs. The same type of people that would stab you with a screwdriver or bash you with a hammer are the same ones that are misusing guns for the purpose they are unintended for. These are the people that give responsible gun owners a bad name.
These guns that were seen could be anywhere from a ruger .22 to a modified sks with aftermarket stock to an actual ar-15 it’s all debatable without knowing for sure. When the law was unveiled last year there was some debate on if some sports shotguns could get people in trouble because of the jargon quoting anything with a bore of 20mm or greater. I think this has been addressed since.
Quoted from shaub:That's quite the strawman argument there. When I say guns aren't "just another tool" and that they are "designed to kill," you respond as though my argument is somehow anti-hunter or anti-hunting. That's a real stretch because I'm neither of those things. Yes, guns are a great tool for hunting but that really just illustrates my point that they are "designed to kill."
Yes, I 100% agree and that was the point behind my "guns as a toy" angle.
I assure you, if I wanted to make an anti-hunting, anti-gun ownership or even a regulation/restriction argument, I wouldn't have hidden it between the lines. However, I think I've made my actual point pretty clear, so if anybody would like the last word on this issue, you are more than welcome.
My point is that the people you are referring to using guns to harm people are a very small percentage of the population. The very first thing you are taught when going for your pal and hunters safety training is that guns are not a toy and are never to be pointed in the direction of someone.
Quoted from Engine09:Rites of Passage, 634 10th St. E right off Broadway.
Graeme is a friend of mine, great guy and an incredible artist.
I agree with this recommendation Pat is also a great guy. He did my back piece. And Graeme did some pieces for my wife.
