Hey guys, just wanted to give a shout out to John Wart. I think he goes by johnwartjr on pinside. He does PCB/Board repair and service. I sent him a box of about 10 boards varying from cooked opto boards to fried MPU boards. His prices are very reasonable and he does awesome work. He has all the testing equipment to bench test anything. Great guy to deal with.

    Quoted from puck:

The reason I ask is it looks to me like people are taking the machine they own, pricing it at the highest US price they can justify and then adding 30% for the exchange then packing on $300-500 shipping "cuse thats what you would have to pay to get it from the US". And you know what, I don't agree or disagree. Supply and demand will ultimately dictate, and perhaps this site is the last place I should be posting about pricing, but for anyone who has recently picked up or sold a machine if you are comfortable sharing, how much did you pay? If you are the seller how did you land on a price.

    I sold a restored SOF for 2800.

The problem with pricing games according to the US market and then adding exchange is that we end up with these overpriced games ultimately creating a pinball bubble. Eventually the US dollar will either go down or our dollar up which isn't uncommon but the result being collectors are stuck with games that they overpaid for. A clean WH20 with topper goes for around 5kUS. Convert that to CAD and its 6500. When our dollar becomes closer to par with the green back I'm now stuck with a game that I have to either sell at a huge loss or keep in the hopes that the dollar tanks again so I can recoup some money. This will cause me to not sell because I don't want to lose 1500$. Now there will be all these games sitting in basements because guys simply won't get their money out of them. Its a convoluted juggling act because pins aren't going up in price in the US but they sure are up here in Canada. Its probably best to hold onto your money if your in the market for a pinball machine in Canada unless you willing to accept a loss at some point. Some dude is selling a Paragon for 2k locally. Is that high if you bought a Paragon 2 years ago? Yes it is but they are selling for 1200ish USD so once you add 30% and the usual couple extra hundred guys jack onto their sale price and you have 2000$ Paragon. So the price in relation to the US market is pretty spot on but many would say that 2K for a Paragon up here is overpriced when really its not considering the current market. There is no good answer to pricing games for sale in Canada but if your a buyer be prepared to lose money on your purchase down the road if your buying in todays market.

    Quoted from flashinstinct:

At that price Stern can keep them. I swear I think they've gone off the deep end. I seriouly think they've created it to liquidate the amount of parts they've bought for Whoa Nellie.

Exactly what I would do if I owned a pinball manufacturing company and I had a bunch of extra parts.

Has anyone been thru Edmonton international airport lately? I'm in Leduc for a week and was thinking of driving over to see what pins are there. Unless anyone knows of any pins on location in Leduc area? (Used to be a beatup junkyard at Kosmos lounge)
    Thanks

The games at the Airport are usually pretty beat. Come down to Lucky's tonight! We are having our first league night of the year and might be able to get you playing as a sub.

Shoot me a text when your headed there

    Quoted from pins4life33:

That is exactly what Bill did in Lucky's we didn't have a great location to play league so he made a deal with the bar and created it out of thin air, we are really "Lucky" to have him in the pinball community.

Derek must of had a liquid lunch or something as he's usually bustin my balls more then rubbin em!
I do pride myself on making nothing from something.

Anyone a fan of taxidermy? I picked this up at a antique and collectors auction yesterday.
My wife hates it. If interested in adding it to your collection, shoot me a message. It's about 5ft x 2ft
    Could deliver to Yegpin.

That would be great topper for BBBB! Ad a few LEDs in the eyes of the fox and rabbit and maybe a motorized tale that wags back and forth? Let me know when its ready.

    Quoted from foramusementonly:

I agree Nitro never seems to have what you need. They talk the talk but just don't supply the goods when needed.

Tommy at Nitro is very accommodating when it comes to ordering parts. In most circumstances it has been cheaper to buy through him then most parts suppliers in the US.
