These guns that were seen could be anywhere from a ruger .22 to a modified sks with aftermarket stock to an actual ar-15 it’s all debatable without knowing for sure. When the law was unveiled last year there was some debate on if some sports shotguns could get people in trouble because of the jargon quoting anything with a bore of 20mm or greater. I think this has been addressed since.

After doing some edumacating on the interweb I'm 95% sure they were AR-15s. You've been here. We're a sleepy farming community. Here's the last place i thought I'd ever see assult rifles.

Now, back to your regular scheduled programming

Now, back to your regular scheduled programming

Assault rifles typically have the ability to be switched from semi to full auto. (safety, auto, single fire)
Armies and military carry assault rifles, police don't.

What you saw was a semi-automatic black AR-15 rifle.

    Quoted from Pinhead306:

In reference to what guns are “designed “ to do they are actually a tool to hunt with and put food on your families table. Hunters and responsible gun owners do not consider them “toys that are fun to play with”. Hunters are a huge part in the funding of conservation projects and keeping animal populations in good health.

That's quite the strawman argument there. When I say guns aren't "just another tool" and that they are "designed to kill," you respond as though my argument is somehow anti-hunter or anti-hunting. That's a real stretch because I'm neither of those things. Yes, guns are a great tool for hunting but that really just illustrates my point that they are "designed to kill."

    Quoted from Pinhead306:

There are also clubs for recreational target shooting no different then our pinball clubs.

Yes, I 100% agree and that was the point behind my "guns as a toy" angle.

I assure you, if I wanted to make an anti-hunting, anti-gun ownership or even a regulation/restriction argument, I wouldn't have hidden it between the lines. However, I think I've made my actual point pretty clear, so if anybody would like the last word on this issue, you are more than welcome.

    #3205 9 days ago

I disagree with the "guns as a toy" angle.

Anybody can buy toys. Certain things require licenses and specialized training to purchase. (Boats, cars, firearms, etc)

If your require a license to purchase something, it's not a toy.

My point is that the people you are referring to using guns to harm people are a very small percentage of the population. The very first thing you are taught when going for your pal and hunters safety training is that guns are not a toy and are never to be pointed in the direction of someone.

    #3207 9 days ago

I love shooting guns, but I also realized years ago that I just don't care enough to jump through all the hoops. I've got fully automatic airsoft AK74, UZI and H&K G36 with full gas blowback (so they feel pretty close to the real deal). I mainly use them to give the magpies and crows a stern, biodegradable talking-to when they fuck with my garbage. They sometimes shit on my car in retaliation, but the message is received loud and clear and nothing is killed in the process. Sometimes there are bigger assholes out there than magpies (I know, tough to believe), and I think police should be allowed to deal with the situation in manners they see fit, but it's like a once-every-3-years kind of serious to require that kind of firepower, and even then, this ain't fucking 'nam, it's usually just one crazy guy. There are better tools to deal with crazy people IMO. The militarization of police is a serious problem globally, but particularly in North America, and that has been made abundantly clear over the past decade.

But, I think what they really need to do is start requiring a license to post on pinside.

    #3208 9 days ago

Do you know it takes more training to cut hair then to become a police officer? Pretty scary to think that some of these men and women have minimal training or expierence with guns but are givin one when basic training is completed.

To be fair, if our canadian trash should be dumped anywhere, this kind of is the place for it (seeing how the city only picks up every 2 weeks now and they won't take excess, we're gonna have to figure out where to put it, and this seems like a decent place).

Anyone in the GTA have Pinwoofer installed in their games? Would love to check it out before making a purchase. Thanks.

We had perfectly fine garbage collection and then they went from every week to every second week when they put out the wheeled bins. It's absurd. I think taxes went up too.

They did that about 8 years ago here to us. Gave us a blue bin for recycling and grey bin for garbage and cycle every two weeks. Fine for the winter months but 2 weeks in 30° and garbage is pretty rank smelling

I was about to buy from pinwoofer but went with a Pinnovators system and external sub as well. It's definitely not apples to apples but I'm very pleased with the results. Can hook up 5 pins to a single sub.

I have a Pinsound system on my TSPP with upgraded speakers and sub. The Pinnovators on my newer sterns sound much better.

Property tax is crazy enough here thanks. Sure it's bad out there also.

Where I live we have weekly recycling but garbage bi-weekly.

Taxes are not low by any means.

Thanks, I will have to check this out. Personally I find the sound on some of my games (JJP GnR, AC/DC Pro) very good to start with so I'm not sure how much improvement there can be. Especially for $500CDN. I do have Pinsound and upgraded speakers on four of my games. I love the Pinsound as you can change the original music, but in terms of sound quality, it is better but not really earth shattering.

We have the green compost bin, that's weekly with recycling.

    #3224 7 days ago

City of Edmonton recently introduced bins for compost and garbage. But when they introduced the bins they decided to reduce the frequency of garbage collection from weekly to bi-weekly while keeping composting and recycling on a weekly schedule. I believe the strategy here was to get folks into the habit of composting and recycling. Some people have adapted quicker than others.

It's been a bit of a learning curve for one neighbor. The crows, magpies and seagulls have been pitching in to help him identify the items that should be composted!

    Greetings! Since we were mentioned...

I never knock the external sub approach and many add both the PinWoofer system and an external to get a completely immersive audio experience. This is particularily true of the music titles. Most seek the completely integrated internal solution we provide as a stand-alone and immediately find that there is plenty of bass intensity and a richly defined backbox sound field. There really is no substitute; you'll hear new things and enjoy stereo separation, well bracketed sound effects and clarity owing to the increased power and headroom at any volume level.

An external sub can provide virtually unlimited bass and may lead you to believe you've reached nirvana but you're still relegated to the de-rated factory amplifier and backbox. A comparison might be adding a sub to your flat panel TV. Sure, you'll get more bass but the majority of your theatre experience should be reproduced by a good amplifier and contained in the upper speakers where a superior sound field can be realized. The same principal applies to our solution and hearing is believing.

The SAM titles (ACDC) sound remarkably good with our system and hands-down, GNR may be the best sounding title of all time. However, the factory audio hardware is wrong and limits the potential of the track. The PinWoofer system replaces the cabinet speaker and tweeters with what needs to be there, and more importantly, our power solution and amplifier take it to the next level.

Thought I'd share and thanks so much for your time and attention!

Yes we are open with 8 games there for now.
Once they lift some more restrictions we will probably be back up to 16 games.
Some more new titles coming in.
Not here yet is Mandalorian pro for one.
Deadpool pro will be added, another new one not picked yet, by me.

    #3235 7 days ago

Damn. Our casinos are still closed. I'd like to do some gambling. Wish there was somewhere closer then Saskatoon or Edmonton to play some pins on location. Too bad no one is operating pins in Lloyd anymore

    Some Canadian feedback here…

I put one in my GnR LE and my JP Premium and it made a big difference in both machines…
I bought the line trimmer when I got the upgraded tweeters for the GnR to add an external sub to it as well… definitely overkill but so good…

Yes, it’s a premium product and it’s priced as such but Dan is the best there is with service and making sure you not only have a hassle free install but that you’re happy with your setup.

When I bought both Pinwoofer systems at the same time, Dan even tried to make the shipping as economical to Canada as possible.

Just wanted to provide some honest feedback.

If you have the means, I’d recommend it… makes a big difference when the audio is important on your machine.

    #3239 7 days ago

Txs for the post. It’s expensive but if any game deserves a treat it’s gnr imo.

How does pinwoofer compared to pinsound?
I have upgraded speakers and pinsound , but no external sub on my getaway and its real nice.
I have upgraded speakers and external sub on dirty harry and its good too.

Roadshow stock speakers and ext sub. But hum sound thats killing me when i shut it down

    Hey Ponzie !

Please note that we did not identify a need for the GNR tweeter upgrade until March. So, while it was an upgrade at that time and a priority to back-fill the existing GNR systems out there, the tweeters now come with the JJP Super Kit. (If anyone reading this still needs tweeters for their PinWoofer system please let me know.)

    Here's where you'll find GNR:

    https://pinwoofer.com/pinwoofer-gt-8in-jjp-super-kit/

The line trimmer Ponzie referred to, enables you to route from the PinWoofer GT amp's hot line out to an external sub, and control the volume at the coin door location. "Hot" meaning studio reference levels which means there's adequate signal amplitude to drive the external:

Thanks for the feedback, as mentioned before I do plan to get a Pinwoofer kit, once I can get over the border and avoid the duty/taxes. I was hoping to find someone local that already has it set up on one of their games so I could hear the newer systems. I'm not sure if GnR owners are blasting the sound on their games but I do find the original system to be very good in terms of sound quality. I would definitely like to improve the sound quality on my Tommy as well. Just not sure the 30 year old cabinet has the best acoustics to make the sound that much better.

These are the people that give responsible gun owners a bad name.

The conversation was about assault rifles. Great for taking down white tail, I hear.

The guns were likely semi auto assault rifles used by the force for serious raids etc. They should have been in a case, but like in any industry, some cops are lazy/stupid/incompetent.

Anyone want to join a pinball auction pool? See link for further details. You can also PM on Pinside if interested in joining. Pool results will be on Pinball Revolution. Thanks.

    https://www.pinballrevolution.com/threads/pinball-auction-pool-gamblers-wanted.11187/

Cost of entry is $10 per person. If you are interested in joining, PM me your guess of the total selling price for the five pinball machines and the person that comes closest to the total selling price (under or over), wins the pool. Total selling price is before any commissions and taxes. You know how these auctions are, the selling prices can be all over the map so everyone has an even chance to win.

These are the pinball machines that are included in the pool. If any extra games are added to the auction, they will be excluded from the pool:

    - Batman Forever
    - Elvis
    - Highspeed The Getaway II
    - Black Pyramid
    - Liberty Bell

Thought this might be something fun for those watching the auction but not interested in actually bidding. The $10 entry fee has to be EMT before the start of the auction for your entry to be valid. I will post all bids in this thread before the start of the auction. Who's in? Cheers.
