    Which shop do you own?

    BOB Headquarters, downtown 308 5th St. S.
It was mostly my staff playing them I think.

    #2902 3 years ago

hwyhed Capital City Arcade has Moon Patrol, or at least they did the last time I was there in February.

    #2903 3 years ago

Moon patrol is awesome. Play all the time on my pandora box.

There’s a second arcade in new west as well, industry arcade, run by a local pinhead and pinsider.

    Quoted from Indusguys:

I had 3 games in my shop for the past 10 months, I made about $100 in that time, now they are sitting in the basement of my store, and I put socks where the games were. Already sold a couple thousand dollars worth of socks in 1 month! Most Lethbridge people are not ready for pinball, our city is typically 10 years behind most big city trends.
I will make a post if I decide to put any games back in the shop. I can't justify taking up valuable room if no one wants to play the games, if they were being played that would be a different story.

So you mean to say that if Soulstoner (or others) come by, they can play games in the basement, uninterrupted by others?
    Sweet!!!

    #2905 3 years ago

    You haven’t seen the basement!

    #2906 3 years ago
    Quoted from Soulstoner:

I’d like to make a trip up to Century Casino to play some pins once this second wave subsides.
What’s the fee for playing? Standard loonie/toonie per game or is there a day pass or anything like that?
I’ve got no options to try different pins here in Lethbridge so I’m willing to make the drive for a day trip.

Doran usually has a at least two or three machines set up in McLennan's in Coaldale. He had IMDN pro and fishtales set up last time I was out there, but that was quite a while ago. He has probably about 50 games that he routes all over Southern Alberta. We tried a league in Lethbridge (Doran's games at Av. Joe's), but we couldn't get more than 10 dedicated players, and that number fluctuated quite a bit.

I sometimes have pinball nights at my place. Beer tourneys that are just for fun. If you're not a mutant (we seem to have a significant increase in mutants in Lethbridge these days), I can put you on the list. Once Covid goes away, I'll go back to hosting big tourney nights that are anywhere from 20-35 ppl and from all skill levels. I have a tournament style that lets less skilled players decide who wins. I've posted the format here: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/team-tournament-format

Now that Average Joe’s is closed down there is an IM at the Duke, but it is in rough shape, probably hasn’t been cleaned in 10 years!

What other games are on location in Lethbridge?

    #2909 3 years ago

I don’t know of any others. I had IM, MET, and TSPP in my shop, all collector shape games. I didn’t even charge any cover you could just come in put a dollar in and leave.

    #2910 3 years ago

Yeah, most of the routed games in town are in rough shape unless new. It's a bummer.

    #2911 3 years ago

There's a Family Guy and Stern Pirates at Canadian Brewhouse, there was an ACDC at Sister's Pub and a GOTG at Legends pub. Not bad shape.

    #2912 3 years ago

Sounds like Lethbridge location pins are pretty decent. I've never played or seen a TSPP, IM on location. Rarely see potc or gotg either.

Got a chance to play gnr le today at nitro pinball.

Just to preface I am a huge lifelong gnr fan. In the pit at last concert, paid for meet and greet with slash, multiple concerts, owned data east gnr for many years.

This game is absolutely fucking unbelievable lol. Immediate wow factor. The lights have to be seen, best light show I’ve ever seen on a pin.

The sound is awesome! Yes they use the real tracks and sync them with live footage so basically lip syncing but whatever it doesn’t bother me.

I found the gameplay really fun, lots of shots, scoop kick out was to left flipper every time, good flow but also some start stop. Yes there is a lot of mb, I think I saw 5 different ones, I would strongly suggest changing the default 60 second ball saver but for today was ok so I could play and see more of the game. I honestly don’t know much yet what I’m shooting for but the smaller screen behind top lanes seems to tell you what to shoot and how many more shots, pops, switches etc you need. There seems to be a lot going on as in all the shots are building towards something, playing a ball on upper pf during mb is a fun challenge. Don’t know much strategy yet was just having a blast playing. I kept playing over and over until tommy was pretty much ready to close up lol.

Eric said the goal was to bring the concert experience into the pinball and I’d say 100% they have succeeded. This is the most immersed in a pinball I have ever felt. Sitting at home a few hours later I’m still feeling the wow factor.

If you are a gnr fan this is pretty much the game you would have designed. I’m still bummed to have missed out on a ce but the le is amazing.

Ps trim is not red and there’s no clashing with trim and light show.

Too bad you couldn't get a ce. Sounds like your a huge gnr fan.

I've watched a couple vids of gameplay and it seems you'r always in multiball. The one thing I miss with newer games is the grind/sense of achievement to earn a multiball.

Yeah, that's my biggest issue. I love a good multiball, but it must be earned. I prefer the 90s style, where you might not even get mb. Still need to play gnr though.

Yes burnt orange best describes it.

    Awesome review/preview!
Ordered an LE from Tommy before the Buffalo gameplay stream hoping to be earlier in the queue.
Any news on when he's getting some stock to ship?

The more I read about people playing this the more I can't wait to get my hands on it!

Sorry I don’t know about that. I do see lots of le’s popping up so I imagine the first batch to Canada must be soon. It will be worth the wait, this game will blow you away lol

We get ours today so should be on location and ready to go at Arkadium on Wednesday. Will try to do a special unboxing and stream on it this week if we have time.

Just received word JJP is shipping us a small batch of SE's. No concrete timeline yet on further LE's.

    #2925 3 years ago

First of all I want to give a huge kudos to Nitro for getting the machine out to us so quickly, you guys are awesome!!!

Sorry wasn’t able to do unboxing stream but here are the pics.

Unfortunately, the bad news is we won’t be able to stream any action for you because the right flipper is so weak that you can’t shoot the left ramp. So our techs are going to have to look at the issue and determine what the next steps are.

    My initial thoughts are:

First of all I am a huge GNR fan, and went to the Not in this Lifetime tour so super excited for this machine. However, I have never been a real JJP fan thou their last three entries have been much better for gameplay. So I went into this with lower expectations due to my past experience on their machines. I can tell you I am very surprised that there are a lot of satisfying shots on this game and when both flippers have max flipper strength I think it will be fun to shoot. The music, sounds, video and light shows are absolutely incredible you really want to get into a song multi-ball on this game, there is no game ever made that competes to what they have done here. However, I am super disappointed with the sling strength on the game I usually have a ton of sling action on Sterns and this game at max slings feels like an old Gottlieb that doesn’t have any (okay not that bad but it isn’t good). I had to crank up every coil to max just to get a little action on the machine. Unfortunately because there is such little action I believe it will be a long player and while that may be good for some people I really don’t like that aspect of it. I am going to have to pull all of the outline posts and rubbers just to make it playable. On a pinball machine I want to feel that I am in danger every time I miss a shot and on this machine I feel I can brick all day and not lose the ball. Now again I reserve my right to change my opinion when I see both flippers work properly if this game on max coil strength stays like this it will be one of those games where I just won’t be interested to play. One of those games that looks like a million bucks but plays like a $10 bill. I did turn off the add a ball feature on the Multiballs and did enjoy that a lot, much more single ball play, and there are a lot of Multiballs but I turned down all of the timers on ball saves so had no issue with that.

Overall I really love the theme and have no issues with the layout and code. But mechanically so far this game is a complete fail.

Like I say hopefully we can get it working right and see if we can get it to where it gets a fair shake I am not giving up on it yet. There can hopefully still be adjustments that can be made for slings and flippers to save this one.

At this point I don’t think we can turn it on as it would be embarrassing to allow people to shoot it in the condition it is in so once we figure it out and get it working we will announce it on our Facebook page.

Hope others have a much better experience when they get their game.

Man, that sucks to hear. With the JJP price tag and supposedly great build quality, you'd think the game would be tuned up and ready to go out of the box. Hopefully it will still be at the arkadium at Xmas time so I can get a few flips on it.

    #2927 3 years ago

I am just glad the machine came to us because if it went to a new buyer or a collector with very little pinball repair knowledge they would have been super disappointed. I am confident we will be able to get this going it will just take time.

Possible issue with the source AC power feed? I know I've never played a JJP at a show that felt right because of that, but in a private home (or at the casino) it is always much better in terms of flipper power, slings, etc.

@bcrage88 well I sure hope they get the kinks out of it before I get my CE.
Is it going to be too hard to progress through the songs with the ball savers off though.
Or can you still get your ad a ball, and progress that way too.

    Quoted from Fytr:

Possible issue with the source AC power feed?

I wasn't able to be there for the set up yesterday but I'm hoping to get there today and will have a look and let you know what i find.

    Update
Simple fix ... the right flipper bat didn’t have any spacing from the bushing so it was binding. Adjusted the bat and bushing space and good to go.

    #2934 3 years ago

I would like to see an adjustments to those times for songs to lower from three minutes to maybe two minutes. Either way on my setups it isn’t easy to progress no matter what machine you play lol..

So if you would of been there yesterday, you could of alleviated all that stress and half of a rant on this game being mechanically a complete fail?

I get it new things should work out of the box, especially the big money for these machine, but sometimes they just don't

    #2936 3 years ago

Come on man, I have never had to make a large mechanical adjustment out of the box on any Stern, American Pinball or any other manufacture, I have been able to play them right out of the box with small software adjustments. There is a lot of crap talk about these manufactures but JJP gets a pass all the time because of how well they are made. This was a simple fix for one of the best technicians I know but for someone like me who knows enough to be dangerous I couldn’t figure it out. So it is expected that I should have to do that work when I receive the machine. Sorry my rant stands this issue should have been addressed at factory and hope that someone else doesn’t run into this issue when they get their machine.

Rant away, I would rather know about issues than not.
At least I know what to look at when I get mine.
Check your record spinner nut on the bottom too.
I heard a lot were coming loose. first runs anyway.

If you gonna drop almost 15k on a Game you are damn well entitled to rant if the flipper is screwed up right out of the box... glad to hear it was easy fix.

Get a chance to adjust slings?

Agreed....new car but only 3 wheels turn. Fail!

Yes....but i have to say if anyone quality tested this machine it would have been obvious and shouldn't have left the factory floor until fixed. I was not able to make a loop or ramp shot with that right flipper and barely the center scoop.

    #2941 3 years ago

No unfortunately the slings are what they are, we might try installing stronger coils, JJP games are all kind of dead in the slings so this doesn’t surprise me.

No nothing i can do unless change flipper coils. They are good but not great.... Just a typical JJP sling strength, not sure why but it may be as there overall sling length(post to post) is too short maybe. To look at the mechs and stock coils you would think it should be good.

I have to say ...whoever is getting one will love it, Beautiful game
"You could be mine" multiball was intense.
Yes a few too many multiballs and definitely need to change some settings as far as add a balls and ball saves and make mutliballs more difficult to get.
Ohh one other thing i noticed was post rubber missing between inlanes on left, not sure if this is done on purpose.

I am just glad the machine came to us because if it went to a new buyer or a collector with very little pinball repair knowledge they would have been super disappointed. I am confident we will be able to get this going it will just take time.

Just spent about 20 hrs over 2 days replacing most boards of my brand new out of box Rick and Morty! I am not a tech at all however a very fast learner lol. After all the time spent it came down to a faulty ribbon cable shorting out and it affected the lights timer and would make shorting sounds. Have to say most of these companies including Barry a DP are very good at customer service and now finally enjoying all the RandM has to offer! Shit happens!

I agree there was a total miss in Q.C if there is even a QC process??

Code update today for GnR as well.

    #2947 3 years ago

My IMDN LE, I had to set the drop target height, same for the post at the back of the orbit. A couple other things. Wasn't playable to any level of satisfaction at first. I think I even had one adjustment nut that had spun itself right off and was at the bottom of the cab. It's fun dialing in a new game.

I have no problems with stuff that happens after a first flip, I have been around pins all my life and shit happens. What I have an issue with is that manufacturers try to push the games out fast and miss very obvious issues so the game doesn’t flip properly from the onset that to me is where I draw the line. If we as consumers continue to accept this behaviour and just fix it then the manufacturers will continue to cut corners and give us a substandard product. I will also cut certain manufacturers some slack like Spooky who a boutique manufacturer compared to huge manufacturers like Stern and JJP. I have no issue on the support side as they are all great but a person who gets that game should not need to get support for major mechanical issues when they plug that game in and want to flip it.

I hear you, however I don't think Spooky let this go out knowing the game had a major issue. The ribbon cables look to be cut from a big role and crimped in house? Not sure if it's the cheap Chinese ribbon cable or the crimp job however I am certain if they experienced this in the factory it would have not gone out this way. Parts sourced from China can always be a problem as I have experience with this and I for one would love to see manufacturers go away from these parts especially the ones that you know will be very hard to get at and replace if necessary....it is just not worth it! Perhaps if we were not expected to do all this work ourselves and everyone just shipped faulty machines back for repair the big companies might make better decisions on what type of quality parts go into one of these things!

With a (hopefully soon?) NIB JP Premium and GnR LE on the way, I agree that you’d really like it to just “work” out of the box.
Fully expect that something may have come loose or fallen off (thinking cables/connectors) under the playfield but I will happily take a few days of delay on delivery of a new machine for a manufacturer to put a game through the paces to test things out before shipping.
The “fresh out of the box” experience is an important one for every company that ships a physical product so I’m sure JJP and others want to nail that.

With respect to different coil strength/ flipper strength, I kinda think of it like the uniqueness of different major league ball parks... Every machine is going to be a bit unique and feel different...and that’s ok.
Maybe that’s a JJP design choice for “feel”?
Or maybe I’m just too lazy to change some coils... (Entirely possible)

Either way, appreciate the discussion here!
