    Quoted from JoshODBrown:

Regarding a letter/petition to propose Nitro Pinball as a potential new distributor opportunity for Stern pinball... We should probably get some interested parties together for a google hangout or something in the next week or two and see how we can make this happen. We'll absolutely need to coordinate, and whatever we write to Stern needs to be intelligent and present a good business case for them to take attention. Presenting the case to folks so they can understand what exactly they are signing is also important, so we want to make sure our goal is clear and concise and no excess verbiage for them to sift through before we capture their signatures.
I don't mind helping get this started if someone hasn't already gotten a head start on it. I would be interested in hearing from anybody who helps organize pinball league nights in any location in Canada, or if you have a local pinball enthusiast group on Facebook, Pinball Players Anonymous support groups, or whatever! Fire me a PM, and let me know your email address, name, and where you are located, and whether you'd be interested in helping spread awareness for this effort within your local areas. once I've gotten some names We'll try to organize something where we can talk in real time and bounce ideas around.
Also, if any of you are PR or communications people and would like to help us carefully craft our message, I certainly would appreciate the help.

I think Tommy did mention news soon, previously after a stern/starburst remark, Im all for a petition and would sign it as well, however Im assuming it has more to do with a legal contract stern/starburst have otherwise it probably would have been done by now...

    Hey everyone,

Just spreading the word about a unique pinball event in Calgary over Labour Day weekend (Sep 2-3) that we've dubbed the 'Silverball Rodeo'. Check out the full details on the pinside event or kijiji link below.

In a nutshell it's a 'mini show' at our league homebase the Atlantic Trap and Gill (510 Heritage Dr SW). Going to have 20+ machines in for the weekend, with Saturday focused on the competitive side with the Stampede City Pinball Open 'Pinburgh-style' group matchplay tournament. All day qualifying with equal play for all participants, with big cash prizes and IFPA points on the line. Alberta competitive legends Dan Horne pingod and Derek Thomson @bcrage88 will be in the mix so the competition is sure to be fierce. On Sunday we're running the tourney finals, but the main event is Rock & Roll Pinball that we're throwing in conjunction with a cool non-profit the Major Minor Music Project. Doors are open to the public from noon-last call with all machines on free play, a full bill of great 'pinball inspired' bands (think 70's classic rock), a couple of fun tourneys and a few other fun surprises. Bands kick off when our pinball champion is crowned. The Trap is kid friendly until 9pm, so the whole family can partake in the fun. And we're very proud to say we have the support of Nitro Pinball and are hoping the man himself Tommy Floyd FlipperFreak can make it out to join in the fun.

$30 to partake in the Stampede City Pinball Open tournament and only $15 for tickets to Rock & Rock Pinball. All access weekend VIP passes are $45 which get you into a bonus party Saturday night. Touchbase with any questions via PM or email me at [email protected] to secure your spot. Hope to see some Pinsiders out at the Rodeo!

I'm heading to Vancouver tomorrow and I'm looking for some good places to play pinball, family friendly locations would be a plus. I'm staying near the General Hospital. I've looked at the pinside pinmap and the Canadian Public Pinball Tracker but I'd just like some confirmation as some of the listings are a bit old.

    #1657 6 years ago

Neither are family friendly but 12 Kings Pub and Pub 340 have good line ups. Pub 340 is pretty seedy, but they have both Star Wars and Dialed In plus other great games. I think they had Mars Attack, Tron, Game of Thrones, Star Trek plus a few others I don't remember. Haven't been to 12 Kings Lately but they usually have a decent line up.

Awesome, thanks for the info, I'll definitely have to try and get to Pub340 to play some Dialed In.

    #1659 6 years ago

12 Kings has a family section but the pins aren't in that room. The American has a decent lineup as well and I have a feeling they are family friendly at times. There's a coffee shop in East Van called Far Out that has an alright lineup of machines. Definitely family friendly.

    Go to places:
    Pub 340 (dive bar)
    12 Kings
    The American
    Lamp Lighter

I'm not sure how long you're in town for but we have two weekly IFPA tourneys. Wednesday at the Lamp Lighter and Sunday at Pub 340. Both start at 7pm.

    #1660 6 years ago

Do you know if the pinside pinmap is accurate for these locations? I'd definitely like to make it out on Wednesday for the tourney.

    #1661 6 years ago

I just took a quick look and the pinside map is not up to date. This map has more current info. https://pinballmap.com/bc I forgot a couple other locations as well. Bimini has a solid lineup now and they have non IFPA tourney on Thursdays at 8pm. The Dirty Penny has freelplay on Wednesdays I believe. Never been cause I'm usually at Lamp Lighter on Wednesdays.

Weekend special.. What's your top 5 games?!?! I was just checking the top 100..pretty biased list! Alien is at 32! Haha..dream theme for me but c'mon man!! There's not 32 of them in the wild yet!

    #1672 6 years ago

I was just talking with a friend about the John Trudeau case and was wondering what other fellow Canadians think? Would/will you sell a game from your collection because it was made by a alleged monster? Seems that alot of people are and will be. Personally I don't play pinball for the designer so it wouldn't sway me to sell a game but i don't have kids either so would like to hear others thoughts on it?

    #1673 6 years ago

Wait, there is more than one Trudeau I can bitch about now? JK

    #1674 6 years ago

    Moster Bash
    The Walking Dead
    Robocop
    Terminator 3
    King Pin

    ....
Would like to play the following and I am sure they would make the top 5

    Houdini
    Dialed In
    Capcom Kingpin
Big Bang Bar (virtual pin makes me think hell yea)

    Rollergames is in there.

The majority of people will not know who designed a particular pinball machine or that its of any significance at all. So many more people were involved in those projects, and perhaps this happening is a catalyst for us to try to appreciate the other talents that go into making a game. Lets use Ghostbusters as an example. Zombie Yeti's art is phenomenal! Dwight Sullivan did a great job at releasing a fairly complete base of code upon release. Theres a whole team of mechanical engineers and tooling people behind the scenes that work out all the logistics to make the machine physically operate. Their musicians and sound people, the marketing, the licensing people, the folks who assemble it, etc.

I'm sure if you knew more about some people who design all of the every day things we use, and some of the stuff they potentially did, you'd maybe want to boycott lots of different products.

I probably wouldn't seek out getting something on my Ghostbusters signed by JT now because of all of this, but i'm certainly not going to stop playing my pro. If i ever met Zombie Yeti, or Dwight, I'd certainly try to get my apron or translight signed still. Now for you guys with an LE... JT absolutely touched all of your playfields, and i'd say that makes the price tank hard. You are welcome to trade me your tainted LE for my pro.

Honourable mentions to fishtales, Johnny mnemonic and BK2K!! I'd be nervous to slap someone's Big bang bar around.. can't afford alien yet, and don't get to play any old EM's around here (although I want one of them too)

There's been piles on kijiji Sask lately, might be able to get something to try out, might be fun getting one of those 70's EM's

I don't own any of his pins but it just dropped Judge Dredd off my wanted list. I will avoid his stuff in the future for sure. That being said I wouldn't hold it against anyone that owns his stuff.

    #1681 6 years ago

I imagine there are kiddy diddlers who worked at car manufacturers, clothing companies, ..probably every line of work there is. How can you boycott a pin that someone only helped make..it takes an entire team..not just one doood.. to each their own but don't know how that's gonna make a difference... I'd be willing to take someone's judge dredd off them if they can't morally live with it in their line-up!

EMs have a certain charm to them. That being said, some are better than others, and everyone is personal taste.

Good luck finding them, I have a couple I may part with as well.

Tech required in Northern Manitoba to service TWD, Metallica, Mustang, Star Trek, Iron Man & AC/DC.

3 of the 6 are “Out Of Order”. The playfields are incredibly dirty, a good service is needed on each of them (Code updates, a good Clean, New Rubbers, Balls and Mechanical Repairs).

3 hours east of Thompson, MB.

"kiddy diddlers" ? Very classy bud, clearly you don't have kids.

    -1
    #1693 6 years ago

Yes I do. WTF would me having kids have to do with some creepy old man having child porn on his computer? Terrible logic. I don't refer to them with any class. If they act on those urges they are in fact kiddy diddlers/rapists. Plus, he hasn't been convicted yet. Stay classy pinsider!

    #1694 6 years ago

Stay classy? Please sell me your game designed by a sick person, really has nothing to do with him. Glad you set your bar so high.

    #1695 6 years ago

I've never heard of the man until this story came out. I want Aeonblack's JD because he pimped it out with custom music and when we talked (8months ago) it sounded like it was in nice condition. Honestly never bought or desired a pin because of one of the designer's name on the card. I don't even read the rules on those cards, never mind random names. This isn't like buying a John Wayne Gacy painting. Old men pinsiders sure like to argue about weird shit!

    #1696 6 years ago

Hey guys I'm in the Guelph area this week. Is there any events going on that I could check out?

    #1697 6 years ago

I love all these PMs I'm getting from pricing experts that my TWD HUO pro is not worth more than $6000 and that I should be thankful for getting such incredible offers. What's with the serious douchebaggyness???

    #1698 6 years ago

Douches are gonna douche. I hate price policing. If you don't like the price, keep it to yourself, the market will decide if something isn't worth what is being asked.

    #1699 6 years ago

I got a message " I'll give you $7500 for your Hobbit, Jersey Jack sucks and there games are basically worthless". That's Kijiji for yeah.
