I thought TBatti had a great idea.

Instead of clogging up our For Sale thread, why not come here to shoot the shit, complain about a crappy exchange rate and speculate on prices!

    I'll start:

    Exchange rate bad!
    Machines too expensive!
    Jeekay....SMASH!

Are you guys looking forward to the next Stern release?

    #2 9 years ago

How about the collectors who come after you with pitchforks for daring to sell a game to the US, because they're unwilling to pay the US rate for the game?

    #3 9 years ago

Exchange rate bad, location pinball good!

    #4 9 years ago

ColorDmd over $600.00 bucks to get here!!!!! Canada is an amazing country to live in. Unless you like to fix, restore or mod pins.

Where is China on the Colour DMD trail?

    You forgot 'buy pins' too.

    Oh, Good job Jeekayjay.

    #8 9 years ago

I don't know about Stern's next release, but I am excited for their original title release that is upcoming. I'm, quite frankly, a little burned out on licensed titles. It's nice, because it gives them material to work with, but it's very unimaginative.

    #9 9 years ago

Well I'm off to Vegas in two weeks , talk about crappy exchange . (Going for a wedding) of course I will stop in at the PHOF .

That's just stupid, those same people will probably buy them and resell to the States themselves. Its a real crappy time to sell pinball machines right now or buy NIB. You either have to "suck it up" and take what the market will pay or hold for now. A new purchase is so beyond my thoughts and that's unfortunate but when a user on here pays $4500 more than I did for new, that's my new reality.

Its not all bad, Ive been thinking of selling off some of my sports memorabilia, so I'll gladly take the 25-30% extra.

    #11 9 years ago

I get that there's one less game in Canada, but plenty of folks buy in the US and bring them back, myself included. I'd say I'm well into the black on imports vs. exports.

I'm headed down to Cleveland next week and it'll be tough not to buy something. You have to remember to double the sticker price! 25% exchange, 8% GST at the border!

    #12 9 years ago

Who cares about less games in Canada, since when is it your responsibility to take a hit and potentially lose money because of that?

    #13 9 years ago

I dunno, talk to the guys in the thread I posted about bringing games to Allentown to show and potentially sell. I got reamed good.

You should do it for the good of the hobby!

    #14 9 years ago

I've recently moved to downtown TO from Australia. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for pinball locations in the downtown area? I have found a few places (like Get Well and Handlebar) but a lot of the locations listed in the pinside map seem to be gone (especially EMs on college street!). Also is it true the city has a law that only one machine is allowed in each location?

There's games at 3030 on Dundas. You should join the Facebook group for Toronto pinballers.

Parkdale specifically has a bylaw about no more than three I believe. But that's just that area.

"The good of the hobby!" Lol, that's a new one. Nice work guys, please let me know when your willing to take a huge hit on something, that will be the day.

If you have the resources and a big show near you, id do exactly the same thing. Id be willing to bet these same people would have low balled you a few years back when the Canadian dollar was 1.10 US. Saying, Ill just drive to the US then.

Neat! I hadn't heard that Stern had an original pin coming. Any hints yet as to what?

I feel ya on the licensed pins though I don't mind them doing it. Wether or not I like the particular ones they pick is a different story though for sure.

Would it be so hard to make us an NHL pin? jeeeeeez

I'm looking for ST TNG parts. Had a plastic piece break and I want to replace it. Is there a good place to go online?

    #19 9 years ago

Your best bet is to ask around local collectors. I don't think there's any Canadian retailers other than Starburst now.

I guess right here is a good place to ask for specific peices.

Go here for a full set :

Someone on pinballrevolution.com was selling a dogs breakfast of STTNG parts a month back. May be a place for you to start...

Game of Thrones will be over 11,000.00 here, how many do you think they will sell here.
    Our dollar doesn't help.
The last LE I bought was STLE around 8600.00 all in.
Thats one heck of an increase

    #24 9 years ago

Premiums and LEs are one thing, will they even sell many Pros at ~$7500? Not so sure about that...

    #25 9 years ago

Depending on what the lay out looks like, I'll probably put a pro on route. I've found the pro's I have bought provide excellent value for the money.

I think the question u have to ask is. How many kiss Le were allotted for Canada and how many did they sell

    #27 9 years ago

Agreed, I would love this title, this is another one of those dream theme's for me, but 11K is too much to pay for any pin, just can't do it based on principle alone who the hell is going to want to buy this machine if you ever want to sell it... Hopefully it will be on location soon...

Yeah unfortunately I think most people will be priced out of GOT even on the Pro models. $7200 ish right now for a pro in Canada. If they increase the price even remotely they will lose more business just due to the CDN dollar.

    Quoted from pins4life33:

I think the same thing for any pin that's priced over 8K. Any pin.

The shipping for a few pieces of plastic are god awful rape. $55-$80. what a joke. The actually shipping from USPS is around $20. I've had 3 lb packages sent for $25. Rant done, lol.

They had 50 at least Kiss LE,from what i was told.
    They also had 55 STLE
I'm sure they still have Kiss LE in stock, they did the last time I checked.

Prices are out of reach for most people wanting a new game LE or otherwise,in Canada.

Most of the interest on my games for sale is from Americans, way better deal for them.

Group buy with others, split the shipping costs up.
Best way to do it,or wait and order a ton of stuff at once.

Each time I have a game restored,I order everything I can in one shot.

I can see them having a few kiss LE kicking around still after 4 months. But I think that's the case with all LE games that come to Canada regardless of the price.

I think the person who can spend 10k on a nib machine. If they hummed and hawed over it. Can extend that budget to 11-12k

Good idea. Maybe start a thread re Group buy in Calgary for "enter site name"

    #36 9 years ago

Yes this is an excellent way to do it, we do a lot of groups buys within our Die hard Pinball Group in Edmonton, saves a lot on shipping costs and sometimes get volume discounts all depending on what you are buying...

I was blown away by the service at Nitro in BC. Plus I didn't have to worry about shipping & import fees. I highly recommend dropping them a line. http://nitroamusements.com

It's not a matter of can they buy it,will they buy it.
Same thing goes for all the games being made right now.
I passed on Kiss LE,because the price is nuts now,I'm sure there are a lot more guys out there thinking the same thing.
Plus premium prices are just as crazy.
STLE sold out fairly quick here in Canada,Kiss LE not so much.

Until the canuck buck rebounds some,I might be out on a lot of new games.

I already have a bunch of friends,we ask each other whats needed when we are thinking of placing an order.
Same thing goes for ordering Invisaglas, buy in bulk.

Right now I am not looking to order anything, might be soon with my next restore.
I can let you know if I do.

Not a chance in hell for me. I told myself when I started $7K was the limit and I exceeded that with Wozle but no way, no chance in hell I'm in at $9-$10-$11-12K even if it was a "dream theme" all time keeper. This hobby is losing its fun value when games are priced so high.

Yes I would like some plastics for my ST TNG. Heck I even need screws not sure where the best place is to get them. Trying to figure out what size I need as for some reason there are a half dozen missing.

Sup from Winnipeg. Prices are terrible! I paid $300 for a busted ass routed out Counterforce. And that was a bargain at local pricing! Good thing I love restoring old piles of (essentially) junk. Finally get to start work on it this winter now that the basement is finished.

Well if you are saying there were 50 Kiss LEs that came to Canada and there are only a few left after 4 months. I see that nitro and playdium sites are no longer offering them for sale. Then the answer is "yes" ppl can and will pay $11k + for them

    #50 9 years ago

How long will stern produce a title for? If the dollar rebounded in a years time, is there a chance at getting a NIB GoT at that time?
