    Hi,

I assume it's fine as I've turned on machines before without connectors in place, but I'm trying to solve an issue with an EM not turning on and I'd rather work without the head on because of the space I'm working in, and because I'd rather put the head back on once the machine is in the location I plan to play it at. Will any damage occur? It's just a Williams Blue chip that's been in storage for a while. I assume it's the fuses but I want to make sure before I move it into my home.

You can power it up without the head connected.

Sure you can. As for the game not turning on, check that the lock relay operates properly. When you turn on the game, it appears to be still off because the lock relay disconnects illumination power. If you then press the left flipper button or start a new game, the lock relay should pull in and light up the machine.
