Hello friends. I have a 1974 Williams Super Flite pinball machine that has a squirrely Ball Count unit. I have serviced it but it seems as though either the gear with the contacts wont always reset itself properly or the coil that advances the gear will not always do a complete cycle enough make the gear advance properly. I have removed the gear and shaft cleaning it and lubing it, adjusted the copper spring arms with the contacts on them so that they're not too hard pressing on the contacts on the board, cleaned and lubed the circuit board and contact, removed the coil and cleaned the shaft and insert. I have tried putting a little more tension on the gear by rotating the clock work spring and I'm sure there is a fine line between adjusting all of this stuff perfectly. I am selling this machine and want it working properly all of the time not just part of the time. Everything else on this machine works great. Just wondered if I should replace the coil as maybe it has gotten weak over the years or maybe the clock work spring although I don't think they are available anywhere. Any help of guidance would sure be apprciated

Did you install a new coil sleeve? File the burrs off the plunger? File the coil stop?

Can you post an image of the unit? I might have a spare.

Check this, from Clay's excellent guide: http://www.pinrepair.com/em/index2.htm#steps

Best to try these measures. I checked and don't have once like that.

Does it operate correctly if you manually move each plunger? Set screws control the depth of plunge and can be tweaked if necessary.

That looks like way too many much grease.

PBR sells spring kits, what’s up with the long spring?

Yes I ordered a spring kit and I will tweak the set screws and wife off the access grease. Thanks

Wiped off the access grease and installed the spring kit. Everything fine now. Thanks everyone for taking the time to add your knowledge
