    This was discussed in suggestions thread as well as in the beta tester group. The reason is for posterity, so the history of a location can live on. It will be better implemented as time goes on.
    So to solve the issue of zero games, you should notice the map now should default to “show locations with 1+ games” meaning show locations with at least one game, which will hide those pesky closed/relocated/pins removed locations.
