Quoted from FlashoverX:I am working on a Gottlieb 1972 King Kool EM restoration and this is my first pinball project. While I am waiting for replacement coils to arrive can I wire the leads together to bypass any dead coils? So far I have to replace the coil in the coin door, score wheel, and one for a playfield bumper. I am trying to figure out how many parts I need to replace to get the motor to stop running.
I have a strong feeling the coil in the coin door replacement will solve it but won't know until I get the replacement in.
Many people remove that coin lockout coil purposely due to it being nearly dead and hot/buzzing! It should not affect the rest of the game. As pointed out, all score reels need to be functional and reset to zero at start up.
