I had a bracket break which caused a coil to short creating a minor explosion on a board. Just wondering if this board looks fixable? I have access to some people that could do the work but it may take me a bit to get in touch with them so if I am going need a new one I reckon I should get the order in.

    Opinions/advice welcome. Thanks!

can it be saved by a good tech? - yes. easy epoxy repair.

here is some light reading if you want to know how its done - http://www.circuitmedic.com/guides/3-5-1.shtml
its not a good board to learn on though. old sys3-6 driver boards are a better place to start.. send this one to your preferred repairer

Thanks mate! I am learning how to do boards but I'm not ready for this. Hopefully I can watch and learn though.

If you need pictures from this board with the traces visible, I can make some tomorrow.

The reason i suggest sys3-6 is if you mess it up its a $30 board wasted ..not the end of the world.
Do you have someone you can send it to in NZ? otherwise there are plenty in AU

I should be OK in NZ if not I will come back to you. There is a local guy who may/may not be too busy and a guy in Auckland.

I have a a couple old random boards I have practiced on but just for simple things. This goes a bit beyond that though. Hopefully I can watch the repair and learn.

    Cheers

It's fixable. Won't look pretty, but it's fixable.

Do you know Beaky? I've seen him repair similar issues.

I've got one out of a Corvette pin here that I need to do a similar repair to.
