I'm just gonna say it, the Great American Pinball banner that shows up above the forums, with the practically naked woman with giant boobs, is obnoxious. That's the sort of thing that would normally get blocked with unsafe tags were it in a thread. All the other ads up there are just company logos and what not, meanwhile it feels like Great American Pinball is just trying to get people to click on their ad with sex appeal.

With Pinside striving to be somewhat family friendly, I don't see why something like this is allowed on the main page. If Great American Pinball wants to keep this as their main logo artwork, as distasteful as it is, then more power to them, but if they want to advertise on Pinside I don't understand why they are allowed to use the same artwork here. Obviously this is ultimately up to robin and it's not like I'm going to boycott Pinside over it, but it's something that's been bothering me for quite a while.

Edit: Well this was a *great* idea!

I've made some clarifications in this thread, please check them out. I'm not calling for censorship or anything like that, and re-reading this now I see this OP comes off as a bit harsh. My intent with this post was simply to offer my humble opinion on the matter, and kindly request a change. I see that I'm in the minority here so clearly no change is necessary.

Better take Rollergames of your wishlist then…

Few years ago they started this family friendly push…I haven’t seen more women or kids here since… in fact I think we lost some more frequently posters of those demographics.

Please reconsider your vow to NOT boycott Pinside!

You have got to be shitting me.
If you ban this the communists win.

    #12 2 years ago

I say good on the banner, as it caught your eye. Isn’t that what advertising is meant to do? Pinball art, over the years, has boobs on so many playfields & back glasses..to be offended by an advertisement like that?! CMON MAN..

    #13 2 years ago

Actually this got me thinking .Can pinside have an Adult only mode where I can be free to post as many naked Kaley Cuoco pictures as I want .That’s what got me in trouble last and it needs to be shared with Pinside .After all ,she posted it herself .That goddess needs a Pinball machine dammit ! 2 pops and a trough and I’m good

    #14 2 years ago

I am far more offended that her outfit appears to be made from an American Flag.

That is to say, still very little!

OP, are you fighting a sex addiction?

Otherwise, maybe the ladies of pinball should chime in what they think.

I'm guessin' the shelf life on this thread is going to be short.

Unfortunately, the only thing accomplished with starting this thread is a hit to your upvote/downvote thread percentage.

You might want to PM a mod next time with any concerns like this in the future.

When we run out of real problems......we make up new ones. There have been boobs in pinball for decades, even before people had boobs. Possibly the first person to have them was inspired after leaving an arcade in the late 50's. It can also be that the first breast enlargement was done following the release of the widebody pinball format. Let us take a moment of silence to say thank you to all of the glorious people in pinball who helped us have a new focus after millennia of butts consuming our attention.
    I will start now..................

    okay, back to life.

    #23 2 years ago

I declare that I love my boobies!!! I hope that I don’t offend anyone here..lol

I suspect if they wanted to poll all the Kens and Karens about their logo design they would have. Take your cancel culture attitude and shove it.

    #28 2 years ago

The early days of Pinside would have really set you off.

Back then, it seemed like it was 50% pinball, 50% cleavage pics.

LOL WHAT?! IT'S A NINTENDO MII PLAYING PINBALL!

Anyways, I figured I'd get down voted but not this much! I'm definitely not a snowflake and no, I'm not fighting a sex addiction. The woman in the bathing suit on my Whitewater actually looks anatomically correct and laugh at me all you want, but I have the cat lady on my Mousin' Around covered up!

I just figured I'd throw my opinion out there and see if anyone else shares it and if not, that's cool. I'm not asking for Pinside to like, ban NSFW content, just maybe consider keeping the main pages a bit more family friendly. Not gonna make a fuss if not, Pinside is already shockingly family friendly as it is and I'm extremely thankful to robin and the rest of the team for that.

Anyways I'm glad I can set a new record for myself for most downvotes! I've never gotten this many before! Kind of exciting!

Typical snowflake type issue. A normal person would just ignore it if they don't like it. If a snowflake doesn't like it, he is offended and is offended for everyone else. He decides that he doesn't like it, nobody else should like it and it needs to be removed. Guess what pal? You lose! That is GAP's logo and is less offensive than a Bally's Strikes and Spares backglass. Please take you cancel culture and just leave if you do not like it. As a matter of fact, you should never watch tv or connect to the internet again if a logo like GAP's offends you.

Bro I hate cancel culture as much as anyone else, just throwing my thoughts out there and curious to see if anyone else shares them. I really don't want to get ignored by a bunch of Pinsiders over this one post haha. How am I ever going to figure out how to fix my Stargate if everything ignores me, I *still* don't know what's wrong with it!

There's a big difference between boobs and a woman who's practically naked with massive bowling ball boobs. Ones realistic, the other is just kind of obnoxious IMHO.

Lastly, as pointed out a couple times you should learn your pinball art history. Tits and boobs go way back in pinball art, they've always been pinball advertising assets.

Discussion? You basically called the guy's logo pornography and offensive to women and children. That caricature of the woman is part of his business logo and is quite tastefully done. There are caricatures on backglasses on the pinballs that we all play that are far more suggestive and revealing.

You are also sadly mistaken if that logo would get a thread banned or shut down.

I wonder how many extra website views GAP has gotten from pinsiders that may not have noticed the ad before…

I didn't say it would get a thread banned, just a NSFW tag which would initially hide it from any users who have their settings set up to do that.

Honestly I hope they do get a boost in customers today. I may have beef with their logo but hey, the better pinball businesses do the better off pinball will be as a whole.

(Y'know if I claim my plan this whole time was just to bring them some extra business would you all believe me? )
