.... or are they too similar to each other?

I am going to get a MET, but own (and LOVE) a ST. Anyone care to chime in with their thoughts?

I would think so, different rules, layouts , designers, I happen to have both I feel they are very different.

#3 6 years ago

Absolutely. I had both for some time, they play nothing alike. Go for it!

Both great games and both keep you coming back

Yeah, the are nothing alike. I was also very surprised to see MET ranked #6 on the Pinside Top 10 (ahead of AC/DC!)...but not as much as seeing ST at #10.

Is owner hype and recency bias coming into play a little but here? I know MET is very popular and highly regarded, but Is ST really a top 10 game?

I was thinking of down sizing my collection because I just bought a boat and listed an order of what would stay.
1. STLE (my sons favorite game he will ever let me sell it)
2. TWD my favorite game
3. Met Just awesome

So I would say they would be just fine in a two pin line up.

ST is a VERY good game. Problem with any Top 10 or Top 20 of pins is that on any given day depending on mood that Top 10 can change on a person by person basis. However, I can see ST up there, and it's definitely one of Stern's top games ever.....

Very much so. Both are very good games and in a small collection they could favor each other well since the rules are so different and the slight variation in layouts can help (both are still fan based layouts).

My only hesitation is that both games can play long once you get good at them. In a 2 pin collection it's good to have one deep/long playing game and then another game that is a quick game. If that isn't of concern to you then I say you should go for it.

A two flipper game vs. a three flipper game and by different designers. They are nothing alike.

I would say you should not pair ST with SM or Met with IM, any other combination of those four games is fine.

What about met and lotr? Want a met but seems similar layout wise

Very different games. For Met, just keep it away from other two flipper fan layouts from Borg and you should be fine.

Those two would be fantastic compliments to one another. Met is fast, in your face action. LOTR is more like a wonderful journey.

Nice! How much you want for your met?

It's bolted to the floor my man, but if anything were to change (Armageddon type-s***), you'd be the first to know.
