I'm working on a Whirly Bird. It's not a pinball machine, but uses pinball parts.

The part in question is part of the assembly that dings the bell when you score points.

I had to replace the coil because it was burnt to a crisp.

When the coil is energized, it pulls the metal slug up from a resting position and it contacts a bell, causing it to ding.

I have all of the parts except for whatever is supposed to be attached to the metal slug. I assume it would be some kind of rubber part so that you don't hear the metal on metal contact.

I am also looking for a replacement for the rubber stop at the "at rest position". The currently is a rubber grommet there, but it is ready to fall off due to it being pretty dried up.

    Here are pics:

The chime plunger is a fairly common part for EM machines. I'm not sure if the screw is how this one comes, or if it was an attempt to fix this one. You should be able to find an appropriate replacement/substitute at the usual places - just have to get one of similar length.

On EM machines I think the stop it usually just a rubber grommet. Should be available at the local hardware store.

The link below will show examples of similar item used on EM pinballs. You might also find a nylon replacement for the metal sleeve if the one in the coil isn't long enough.

THe screw is factory, the threaded hole is perfectly centered, and I can tell its been machined this way on purpose.

I appears to be a way to hold a rubber tip on to the end of the metal pin.
