    If you're going to try carbide, I recommend against carbide drills in a hand drill motor. Carbide won't flex like hss will, and they will shatter. Your setup needs to be solid and rigid such as a drill press and vise. You will also need to grind a starting dimple so the drill won't wander around the face of the ball.
