Broken bits as in the end caps and glass? No.
Cracked as it blew, maybe, but in 40 years never seen it. Unless the fuse was submerged in water and heated up very fast.

Way, he meant that the original fuse is not the one he found broken in the corner. The original one may just be stuck in the harness or some where else. Probably just a loose holder.

Sounds like a fried coil that runs one of the steppers.
