I have raven and Hard Body, 2 of the ugliest pins out there. I cant think of many that are worse. Although I hate Ali's Playfield. Can you?

#2 3 years ago

Bad Girls! , Diamond Lady is pretty bad. But many of the Gottlieb/Premiere pins in the 80's have to be among the ugliest.

#3 3 years ago

haahhahaha I read the title of this thread and I knew it was you & your collection! I love those cheesy ugly machines, wish I had room for them right now. I was gonna say Bad Girls but erak beat me to it! ARRGGG must. think. of. ugly. pins.......

#4 3 years ago

Genesis? - I think hard bodies is pretty much it for bad 80's looking LOL

You know how your Grandma had that one painting at her house and it creeped you out? Like, painting of your great-great-great grandparents and you'd wake up on the couch in the middle of the night and see their eyes following you around the living room? Yeah, they made a pinball machine based on that theme and called it Genesis. I mean, really, when you think of Genesis, do you think of Phil Collins or a dwarf, a Vegas dancer, and Albert Einstein? I'm pushing thirty and that backglass still creeps me out...

yeah I think Hardbody is probably the 'Steven Seagal - Direct to Video' of pins, if you want to sell it next year look me up, seriously.

#7 3 years ago

Odd, I was looking at a Genesis. Anyway, id like to think I have the YYYYYYYYYYYYUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGLLLLLLLIIIIIIEEEEESSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTT collection. But I love it.

#8 3 years ago

I like Genesis. I almost bought one but didn't jump on it fast enough. It's a fun game!

#9 3 years ago

Just a few suggestions for the discussion: DE Torpedo Alley, and Bally Party Animal are the first two that come to mind. Nothing good about either's art.

I really really love the play of my raven. I would love to add another system 80b

#11 3 years ago

I might be in the minority....but the backglass on Genesis never bothered me.

Genesis, INMHO, is the best System 80B pin out there.

Genesis. I could not stop looking at that backglass. It's like Rosemary's baby: hideous, and yet you cannot turn away!

#14 3 years ago

I'd have to go with SFII for the most craptastic BG.
"Hey look, Bison is the sunset!"

ROCK is pretty good too if you are into 'Jem and the Holograms'...
Really Gottlieb? Just a generic font? No lightning bolt typography? Pffft, amateurs!

One other thing I'm noticing on that Genesis...

What are the two buttons on the front of the machine on the right of the coin door area? Usually the start button is on the left, that thing has two and they're on the right with arrows.

That game is really strange looking, I think it would go well with a post apocalyptic collection of pins along with Road Kings.

#16 3 years ago

Last Action Hero has got to be one on the worst back glasses ever.

#17 3 years ago

Those 2 extra buttons are for the 3D hologram PAC-MAN mini game.

#18 3 years ago

Or the high score name input. The left and right arrows move up and down the alphabet. Take your pic tho.

#19 3 years ago

Hardbody is my #1 pick for worst backglass. Torpedo Alley is a close 2nd.

For some reason Premiere couldn't figure out to just attach the initial enter buttons to the flipper buttons. Strange considering all SS Gotliebs prior worked. HMMMM? What happened?

I know, they are actually extra flipper buttons for that Midget on the backglass because he cant reach the cabinet buttons.

I like both of those (and Genesis) because to me they are fun!

Gilligans and Strikers Extreme I don't like.

Party Animal: Furries need pinball too.

Raven has awesome/terrible backglass.
Street Fighter II is a crime against humanity.

DE Torpedo Alley,

You have a perverted view of ugliness dude... Torpedo Alley is excellent (well, the backglass at least!)... you have to see the humour in the porn flim link!!

This is true ugliness:

If any company comes out with a Rue Paul pin.......run and hide! That one would top the ugly chart.

#28 3 years ago

Every time I see MSF I think someone puked on the playfield.

#29 3 years ago

The ugliness has left me. Hardbody and raven have both hit the road. now its some of the most good looking system 11s. The next challenge: Who can beat the uginess of my old collection?

#30 3 years ago

I agree...Genesis is a pretty fun game. Love the Metropolis Robotrix in there!

#31 3 years ago

Stern IJ

#32 3 years ago

I wouldn't consider LW3 an ugly pin, unless we're talking about Joe Pesci.

#33 3 years ago

I agree with all but pinslave =-) I love my SMB. It is well themed but very simple playfield art. I think it is the color that turn most off. And never thought of Doctor Who as ugly just over the top and a little cheesy.

Genesis, SF2, LW3, Hard Body, NMOES, raven... after that I am not sure there is much uglier out there. oh yeah Barb Wire I can deal with the BG not the PF.

Man for the era of these pins they did not spend any time or money on looks did they?

i think it's not that bad for the same reason.

OMG Torpedo Alley is milk out your nose funny. Almost better to replace it with a towel.

I like Party Animals art...its like totally 80"s Dude!

#37 3 years ago

Haven't seen one in person, but the rarer Transporter pinball has the most garish artwork ever. Combine that with the Steven Hawking voice, and that should scare most kids away from pinball.
