    Hi all.

This might be a stupid question, but here goes. I have a Gottlieb coil (A-5195) installed in a WPC game that works just fine and seems to be the same strength as the original coil. However this coil obviously has a different resistance across the lugs and a different number of windings. So is it possible that this coil could draw more current than the circuit is designed for and be responsible for blowing a fuse?

My gut tells me "yes, obviously", but just wanted to verify.

Probably not enough of a difference in resistance to blow a coil fuse.

Yes. But it seems unlikely that your fuse is so close to the maximum current draw that changing to a similar but slightly beefier coil would consistently blow it.

Gottlieb A-5195 11R6 should be about 11.6 ohms resistance. How much different than the coil you replaced?

The correct coil is an AE-23-800. All of the 23-800 coils on that page are 4R2.

4.2 ohms should be a lot stronger coil than 11.6 ohms. Are you sure it's wired correctly? Is the fuse blowing immediately or does it take several seconds? EOS switch present and adjusted properly?

Why don't you put in the correct coil? They're $10.

Because the machine is not close to me - it belongs to a friend. Trying to help him troubleshoot from a distance.

The coil is for the plunger - no EOS switch. It doesn't blow immediately; seems to happen at random. Just trying to figure out if this coil is a likely culprit.
