If anyone needs cabinet webbing for a restoration in the Charlotte, NC area, consider Doug Morton at Doug's Custom Cycle in Concord, NC. I did all the cabinet sanding, priming and white basecoat. Then took it to Doug for webbing/clearcoating. Below is a Jumping Jack cabinet I just completed.PICT0044.JPGPICT0044.JPGPICT0045.JPGPICT0045.JPGPICT0046.JPGPICT0046.JPGPICT0048.JPGPICT0048.JPGPICT0049.JPGPICT0049.JPGPICT0050.JPGPICT0050.JPGPICT0051.JPGPICT0051.JPGPICT0052.JPGPICT0052.JPG

VERY NICE. Not to thick, not to thin. and no big blotches. I'm sure everyone would be interested in the products, materials, tools and technique used.

Hmm, he should open a side business and call it "Charlotte's Webbing"

NICE!

Would love to know how they do it so well. I bought a can of that Krylon webbing....never again!

The webbing is too thick. Look at an original game and you'll see it. Or look at one of Boilerman's games and you'll see how the webbing is supposed to be.

Most webbing jobs we see on here are just too heavy.

Here's an original on IPDB.

Looks good to me.

The originals on IPDB are just that: original and mostly faded and badly yellowed and discolored. Hard to get a true feel from the actual paint from 1973. This game was like that. He tried to duplicate the cabinet we had to work with and I am very happy with it.

Not a matter of fading. It's a matter of how thick the actual webbing is. The original webbing is very, very thin, not thick like

The original webbing looks like very thin pencil lines on the cab, not more like magic markers on the cab. I saw the webbing on these games when new and that's what it was like-thin, not thick.

If you're happy with it, fine with me. Just pointing out that we see a let of cab repros on here with webbing that is just too thick and too heavy, too much of it. It as much more understated that the repaints have it.

See the pictures in Clay's guide. This is the way it is supposed to be.

That looks like Krylon in a can Webbing. I wonder if he would have Clearcoated the Playfield how that would have turned out.

Yea, saw the pictures in Clay's guide. Right or wrong, I believe I'll keep mine. I only have six Gottlieb games with original webbing, but none of them have the same amount or thickness of webbing. Doesn't appear any two webbings were alike. I guess it's in the eye of the beholder.

What a freaking disaster area on that DAC. Not only the horrific job, but it's obvious that they somehow masked off the graphics as the graphics should be painted over the webbing. It would be a very nice restoration (minus the LEDs under the plastics) if they had just done the webbing correctly

When you can see the webbing from 15 feet away, well, you've got a problem.

When you see it on original games it's there but not real noticeable. If it's as noticeable as the rest of the graphics, then it's either too thick or there's just too much of it.

It's not an easy thing to do and there's always a temptation when you're putting in a blank cab to overdo it.
