I have a 1958 roto pool I'm fixing up and have a few questions on construction at that time:

    1) Play field rails. I need to remake these as the old ones are rotten. I have enough to be able to copy the wood profile from but how were they attached to the cabinet? I couldn't see any signs of screws. Were they glued?

    2) Backbox wooden trim around the glass. These are still in place on my machine. I need to remove them. How are they attached? I've detected a couple of screw/nails but not sure if that all. How do I get them off? Not bothered if I damage them as they are already beyond saving and will be replaced.

Final question partly linked to the above.

    3) Back glass - this has flaking paint so I need to be REAL careful getting it out! Are glasses usually removed from the front (by removing the wood trim above) or the back by swinging down the mech in the backbox? The back seems the most obvious but when I looked briefly it seems that there are still some parts (wooden corner blocks etc) which might stop the glass coming out. I don't want to try until I'm sure I'm using the right method as I'm worried that trying to shuffle it out the wrong way will damage a load more glass paint.

    All help gratefully received! Thanks

My 1959 two player cabinet has flat rails instead of the round ones that you have. On mine they were just glued on. I talked to Steve Young at PBR. He is familiar with your style and said they were nailed and glued. By the way he has replacement rails for your game in stock.

I ‘m not sure about the wooden trim on the back box.

I believe the glass comes out from the back.

Thanks for that. Sadly I’m in the uk so not sure purchasing rails will work for shipping. Thanks for the info tho - helpful.
