I’ve been procrastinating finishing the cab restoration on my Flight 2000. I have successfully made it structurally sound, refitted the front panel, made it square again etc. The front was held together with screws - like a lot of them. So i’ve rebuilt that corner using fiberglass resin.

I still have some work to do before i paint. One task is redrilling the leg bolt hole since they were filled in with the resin. What is recommended to do to make sure the holes are drilled and aligned properly. Def not free handing these. Are there jigs that people use? Strap a leg to the cab and use that? Hoping to not f up my edge and have to redo lol

I’ll see if i can’t get the tech college my wife works at to 3D print me one. Otherwise i will just have to make a wooden one myself. Good excuse to buy a drill press

Ok i have an update! I know some of you guys have been losing sleep wondering about this cab and its lack of leg bolt holes....

A friend of mine (And fellow pinhead) had a thread going about converting a new stern cab over for a Sys 11 game, and completely rebuilding a head for it. Did a great job in fact. I had no idea he had those skills. So i send him a complementary text, and ask him what his thoughts were on making a jig for my leg bolt problem.

A few days later he drops this on my front porch:

Huge shout out to tomtest for making this up for me!! He even epoxied in metal sleeves to keep the bit from wandering. I’ve been procrastinating finishing this cab restore because of these holes lol.

Tom would like everyone to know his wood working skills are not for hire. But you should still go check out his cabinet thread!

Quoted from BorgDog:

Very nice! I was really happy with using a tie down strap to hold mine securely in place while drilling.

Yes i really liked how you did that. Going to use the same method to secure mine to the cab too
