I know of some sources for the original transistor array CA3081, but is there a good cross refenced chip for this? Yes I am cheap and just looking for something cheaper than the $2-3 a chip.

There are $1 each but not actually a 3081: https://nvram.weebly.com/transistors.html
Requires header pins and 7 2N4401s

Thanks that is a pretty cool solution. I order some boards to have them, but still looks like about $1.75 to complete each. I'll probably just grab some of the old stocked chips for now and keep this for when they can not be sourced or get much higher priced.
