Build up a Pinside reputation over time and only do PayPal gift payments along the way. This Motordome owner is years away from hanging with the big boys

    Quoted from CrazyLevi:

Two guys from Long Island drove to albany with $25k or so to buy a bunch of “cheap but not too cheap to be true” NIBs from someone they had already bought a few games from. They were robbed at gunpoint. Must have been a quiet trip back to Long Island.

The irony is the sellers were probably from downstate

Coincidentally, I travelled to Long Island for my first pin (recently new to the hobby). I actually got to pay PayPal (friends and family) for Motordome. Seller accidentally refunded me the funds after I sent them and those got locked up for a week, while the refund was processing with PayPal. Instead of leaving with the pin, like the seller was willing to let me do until it really sunk in what happened, I sent him another round of funds and was out double for a week. PayPal did end up processing the refund, but felt like I was out double until things got squared away. PayPal is nice for a buyer the seller trusts (I really don’t know how you’d get the refunds returned once they’re sent as Friends and Family).
