Quoted from Jvspin:

My interpretation is that JJP is only legally bound to provide warranty service to games sold through his authorized distributors. This gives added value to his authorized distributors for those buyers who are concerned that warranty service will not be provided unless the manufacturer is legally required to. Stern has a similar official policy.
STERN PINBALL INC. SELLER WARRANTS ONLY TO THE INITIAL PURCHASER OF ITS
PRODUCTS THAT THE ITEMS LISTED BELOW ARE FREE FROM DEFECTS IN MATERIAL
AND WORKMANSHIP UNDER NORMAL USE AND SERVICE FOR THE WARRANTY PERIOD
SPECIFIED....
In practice, we know that both JJP and Stern choose to go above and beyond their official warranty policies to provide excellent service to whoever owns their games.

"Authorized distributor" sounds like factory select sales points for price fixing IMHO.

When JJP lets a game go off the warehouse dock, front door or back door he gets the dollar amount he wants or it does not go. Warranty and support should be the same regardless of direction.

Hopefully if someone buys a new JJP pin its fully supported (parts & service) regardless of how the box gets into someones home.

The same goes for Stern but I never recall anyone from Stern posting in these forums or any other that ONLY games from distributors receiver parts and service for the warranty period and they have covered new games all along where JJP has made conflicting statement for warranty coverage and service.

Remind me not to get pulled into trivial arguments by Flynnibus when I just try to make simple observation. We've been seven pinball shows in Florida without a JJP machine. Leave it at that.

Sorry to hear Jack had to leave Florida under those conditions. I was not aware that he planned to bring TH to the show.

Quoted from pinball_keefer:

Jack had a funeral of a good friend to go to Saturday morning. He drove all night Friday night to make it in time. I just don't even know what to say sometimes.

I'm sorry to hear that Keith. Pushes everything else into perspective sometimes.

Quoted from Captain_Kirk:

The problem is Jack's unreasonable warranty restrictions. When you're late time after time, you should be bending over backwards with liberal policies to build customer loyalty.
And calling out a competitor on Pinside is uncool, especially one that has contributed so much to the community.
Bad form.

Agreed, this is weak Joe...I've bought a half dozen pins and vids from Todd...His service is awesome, he stands by everything they sell.

Going on a public forum like this and dissing Todd makes you look really unprofessional. Even worse that you went back and edited your posts.

How many sterns have been debuted there in that time?

Sometimes people forget they just don't live in the right spot for something

In all fairness, when Free Play Florida was the Southern Pinball Festival Jack was at the first one and did a great speech. To my knowledge he's not returned, however at the 2nd event there was a Woz and a Woz ruby red to play brought by Little Shop of Games. That's the last time i'm aware that anything JJP was at any florida event. There was a hobbit at free play, but it was wrapped up and we couldn't use it (I think it was sold, just being held at the show). Goes without saying that the florida events welcome Jack or any other pinball manufacturer to attend and would be thankful for any and all support we might get in the future. The real world impacts what companies can or can't do and we understand that. What can happen depends on everyone's budgets and that goes for both the pinball company and the shows themselves.

The free play team appreciates any and all support from pinball companies and distributors, we don't have any control over who decides to be there or not but we are extremely thankful for the support and efforts of Curly at LSOG he's been an incredible asset to all the florida events year after year. Every single year he's been there with the latest greatest Stern games (including a Game of Thrones LE this year) as well as Gary himself.

Keep making pinballs, keep growing this hobby. Life's too short to get upset about who shows up where.

So is it time to drain this thread yet? I wonder if Santa Claus is an authorized JJP distributor...

Sorry, no warranty. But JJP stands behind every machine.
