It would require more complex molds and a new product, but could you make the buttons so that they had a snap-on front where a decal or cutout could fit inside? Similar to coin reject buttons?

Quoted from Zitt:Winter; yeah - very complex molds. I considered this as an option before; but TBH; I'm not confident something could be engineered to look right. Then there's the VERY expensive mold cost.
Could something like this work where the outer shroud has a couple of tabs with maybe a hole in them that would fit over a smaller, more structurally sound piece that has nubs that snap into the holes of the outer piece? Basically the entire thing would be the size/shape of the current buttons. I agree, it might end up being too costly considering you already had molds made up for the current buttons, but I was just thinking conceptually something like this might work.
