Funny thing is that LEDs have been studied as a safety addition to cars. They come on faster than normal bulb and that added fraction of a second gives more time to the person behind you to hit the breaks. I think at 60 mph it was like traveling 60 ft.
I work at Ford Motor Company in product development, and we've been using LEDs (as well as other automakers) for over 15 years. They're used to illuminate almost everything in the interior, such as the instrument panel, as well as general & ambient interior lighting. They are also used on exterior lighting such as entire tail lamp assemblies, including brake lamps, and headlamp surrounds. the center high-mount stop light (3rd brake light) has been LED for over a decade also.
They've basically replaced incandescent lighting in every aspect. As far as being a safety addition- not sure what you meant by that

He's saying that the response time of LEDs is much faster than that of an incandescent bulb i.e., a standard bulb filament takes a fraction of a second to warm up before it gets to full brightness, where LEDs in comparison reach full brightness almost instantaneously. That fraction of a second response time gives the driver an extra fraction of a second to react, and when traveling at highway speeds, that fraction of a second difference translates into several feet of reaction time.
Quoted from ovfdfireman:If he was doing well he wouldn't be driving the corvette in the snow. Plus he would have a garage.
He probably has a fleet of them and goes through them like tissues.
Quoted from crlush:If that was his Corvette the license plate would be lit up with Led's.
Matrix Style, I'm sure

At the end of the day, they are still just a chevy.
I used to drive mine year round, (snow too) they are good daily vehicles.

They don't need to be an addition, because they are already being used in the center high mount stop lights (3rd brake light) and brake light surrounds.
Thanks, Chuck!
Ive already had my midlife crisis, and shes gone!
Moved my bare bones Dodge Caliber to my son, and got a Honda CRV so I can finally move a pin!
(Tough to strap a pin on a vette!)
Business is good, thanks to everyones support..extras all going to surgery.
Still waiting on a date, and trying to rest and stay stress free...frustrated, but likely in the next 4-6
weeks. Nervous, the back of my heart isnt working right.....
Gotta finish this pile of new stuff coming this year...lots of goodies!
Thank God for my daily fix of Pinside!

Our collective prayers and support are with you for a safe recovery..............
Quoted from Pinballocks:I know I've made at least one car payment.
You know, here's the thing about Comet. I've ordered several times, all told maybe spent $150...maybe paid for a key fob. Every time, it seems I have a question before I order my $25. I feel guilty about asking Art a question. Yet, in every instance, he is incredibly responsive and helpful. It actually used to be the way businesses were run. As a kid you could walk into a hardware store looking for two screws and the guy would navigate through the aisles of parts bins until he found what you needed. Damn, I miss those days. Not many Art's left
I have no problem sending my business to Art. No matter how busy he is, he never misses a chance to chat. My pins love his colors.
I'll join in I all the love here. I buy all of my LEDs from Art and have been super pleased. Great guy and an asset to the pinball community. I'll be praying for your speedy recovery as well.
Thank you all Truly.....when you hear the whole story, youll be amazed!
Ill share so others may not have to go through what I have...and several Pinsiders involved in the medical field have
gone above and beyond to help.
I need to work through this all, but heres a pic of the scans I am waiting for:
Only one machine in the state...3 million each! GE Revolution CT.
