Hello,
I just recently purchased a working Williams Space odyssey, in hopes of cleaning it up and learning the basics of machine maintenance and repair. Unfortunately before I could start that I had a couple wires burn up on the coin door.

My schematics reading skills aren’t that great but from research online it looks like it could potentially deal with the coin lockout as that portion of my machine is missing and there is no coil. I heard that the coin lockout isn’t even needed and can be disconnected, would I have to desolder the wires from the jones plug in the cabinet or would I have to rewire that whole plug?

I have attached pictures, and as I mentioned I am very new to pinball repair and would love any advice on where to go from here!

Thanks!

Right, that coin lockout coil is not needed in home use. Do not do anything to the jones plug(s) other than clean them up. Secure the wires at the removed lockout coil. Likely 2 wires of the same color went to one coil lug, keep these together, use a wire nut and tape, then perhaps a zip tie to secure it from flopping around. The single wire....same deal, wire nut/tape zip tie. Do not secure those 3 wires together nor let any touch any "ground"
