Burn The Pizza Or Let The Last Ball Drain

Ran into a dilemma last night. Threw a pizza in the oven and decided to play a game on my Star Trek Pro while I was waiting for it to cook. To make a long story short, I really got things going on my last ball and about 7 minutes into it the timer goes off on the oven telling me it's time to pull the pizza. So I'm in the process of setting a high score for myself and there is no way to get to the oven to turn it off without having the ball drain. I managed to keep the ball in play for another 8 minutes, during which time smoke started pouring out of the oven, two smoke alarms started blaring, both of my dogs are at my feet and needless to say, the pizza was ruined. It still stinks in here this morning, even though I've had the windows open all night.

Can anyone relate?

Coin door ball saver would have been a good choice if you have that set.

Pretty tough group on Pinside I guess. Not sure why someone would downvote a thread like this. I must have offended someone that makes store-bought pizza for a living. My apologies. I'd still trade a burnt pizza for my high score last night though.

What was your score and what kind of pizza was it? If you're score was 100 million and it was a tombstone, you made the wrong choice my friend.

Yeah, I've kinda learned that the hard way. I've got my machines set up in my pro shop at my golf course. I'll always sneak a quick look at the parking lot to see if anybody's pulling in, and if nobody is, I'll try play a quick game. Inevitably, as soon as I start to have a good game, the phone rings, someone comes in, or something happens where I've got to walk away from it. As the weather gets better, I'm going to have to resist the temptation.

This is why I love the option on TZ (9.4h ROM) to pause your game. Wish more games had that option.

Pizzazz Pizza Maker! I haven't used an oven to cook a pizza for over 10 years. I got the pizza maker as a christmas present. Never wanted one because I didn't think it would work well. It works excellent! And the best part when it's done, the pizza still rotates, but the cookers turn off. So it stops cooking the pizza, but lets it gradually cool for a while.

A similar thing happened to me while filling my hot tub. The differences is, I was oblivious a choice needed to be made.
