    Hey all,
Looking for more advice from you wonderful pinside folks!

I am looking at a pin and the dmd is " faded " in the bottom right corner. The bulbs come on, but they are duller than all the others. Not sure which of the 2 it would be? Something else?

Also is this a warning sign that I will probably be investing in a new display soon if I buy this pin.......?

    Thanks everyone.

    Quoted from ReplayRyan:

Not necessarily. What you're seeing is an example of natural wear on a plasma DMD. It happens with a bit of time, and Babcock displays (used in most Stern games until the switch to LED) especially will become dark in the corners. Vishay and Cherry DMDs tend to burn out more evenly.
You are not putting undue stress on the DMD power supply, especially if it is a Stern game. When a DMD fails and NEEDS to be replaced, you will know it. But if the burn-in on the display bothers you, just replace it.

It's a sega machine so I guess it's a stern.... It doesn't really bother me at all , so if it doesn't need replaced I probably will let it go until it does. Any idea how much longer it will hold? I'd hate to buy it and a month later need to put a dmd in it....

Is there a way to test the high voltage section to see if it is putting stress on it? What are the side effects if it is?

bigd1979, Good picture that is exactly what I am talking about. The area affected on the one I am looking at is probably 5 or 6 dots further in and a little taller.
