I'm just about through refurbishing my Bally Star Trek but my new bulbs keep burning out. I've replaced everything in the machine with #47s. I've played probably 20 games while I dial it in an have replaced over a dozen new bulbs both controlled and GI. Voltages are correct, GI bus measures 6.65V (schematic actually calls for 7.3.) Nothing is extra bright or anything, bulbs look normal until they just go out.
Did I just get a bad batch of bulbs maybe? Any other ideas?
I'm going to guess bad batch. Where did you get them? I've had more lamps go bad right away with the 100 pack of 555 and 44 from Pinball Life. Typically about 4 or 5 in each pack will vaporize the filament into a white dust inside the glass immediately upon power-up.
Lamps in or near pop-bumpers, flippers, slings, etc. can easily go bad from vibration, but they usually get real bright first before they die.
