I'm about to take apart my playfield to clean and wax it and want to also remove the oxidation from my bulb sockets to fix the intermittent lights. What are people using to clean these? I was thinking of using a gun barrel bore cleaner brush and Qtips. Anyone else found something that works really good and easy for this?

I was going to get these but realized when I shined a light into the sockets they where clean. They only looked cruded up in bad light. Take a seconed look with a drop light, you might be as surprised as I was.

Well I use a light socket cleaning stick for all the #44 & #47 sockets.
The Pinball Resource still sells them http://www.pbresource.com/tools.html
you can also close the sockets up by using a 'L' setting tool for real loose ones.

I took a suggestion from an old tech and superglued some some fine grit sandpaper to old burned out bulbs on the bottom and side. It works great for cleaning out sockets. I just use some antistatic air spray afterwards like for cleaning PC keyboards to get rid of the leftover grit. It's brought many an old socket back to life without getting in there otherwise.

I will order one of those light socket tools and in the meantime try the sandpaper on bulb trick. Thanks.

I was going to order one of these cleaning sticks for my Paragon, but then I noticed it is "not recommend for late 70-80's Bally games – due to cheap sockets being used."

So how do I clean them and get them working properly or do I just have to replace them? I have A LOT that are flakey.

An ignition file I had on hand was just the right size to fit down inside. Worked fine for me.
