    Quoted from yaksplat:

I'm actually planning on putting in 5v taps and signal wire hookups in many places. This is one of them. That way I can control LEDs in lots of places. I have written code for simulating a thunderstorm that rolls in from miles out and then passes on through. The intensity and movement changes as it passes. It's one of the more interesting things that I've written and it shook the cobwebs off of my geometry brain.
I wrote it for a tiki bar, but it will certainly work here as well.

Wanna see video of that when it's done - sounds cool!

    Quoted from yaksplat:

    Time for some stupid drama.

So, I'm over by 5-5/8". Perhaps they won't notice....
Doorbell rings 30 minutes later. Inspector is here with a stop order. He said they were trying to figure it out as well with what happened, and they found it was the architect's issue as well. But that doesn't matter as it's on the homeowner. So, he said he can't stop me from making the house watertight, which is what I'm doing, so I don't really have to stop. However, I have two choices. Get a variance, and the next meeting isn't until mid-December, at which time my moron neighbors will be able to speak against me getting a variance. Or fix it.
I can't stop working for 7 weeks, so I choose to fix it. I got the town, surveyor, and architect all on the same page with my planned fix. Cut the corner off the house. It's really the foundation that is the measuring point, so cut the foundation I shall. On Saturday, I ripped out the wall above that corner and cut off the corner, rebuilt it and all is well. It's an absolutely stupid fix, but I can keep working with no stop.
Neighbors didn't have time to find out about the stop order, so they can't complain about anything. I should be 35'1" from the front line now. So much fun.

Holy shit! Glad you got that fixed. It would have sucked to let your neighbour have another venue to complain. Especially after so much work.

Any FLIR that is preferred for once in a while usage? I see they range in price from 200 - 1000 bucks.

I'm sure you get what you pay for, but for occasional use like we see here will cheaper ones work?

    Thanks
