I’m not sure what section to put this in so if it’s in the wrong place. Mods, please move it to the proper if it doesn’t belong here.

At any rate, I had been fighting keeping a clean environment to do painting and clear coating so I finally broke down and built a proper spray booth. I had previously installed an exhaust fan to service half my workshop. It pressurized the the area and the fumes and overspray was effectively ejected out the window. The problem was with pressurizing the area, it caused and dust and contaminates to go airborne. No good.

From there I set out laying out a spray booth that both pressurized by fan and expelled by fan at the window. The exhaust fan is a proper totally enclosed explosion proof fan. The intake fan will have spraybooth filter media before the fan on the intake side and then spray booth sticky filter for the air entering the booth itself. The room is roughly 10x10x8’h. The lights are sealed by plexiglass and are led driven. The exhaust fan switch is an explosion proof switch to garuntee no possible spark hazards. To finish things off, I installed a Dry Aire filter system to provide clean moisture free air for the spraying process.

At any rate here are some progression pictures of the build through completion.

Sorry, as usual, the pictures reordered themselves. I had them from framing to completion.

    Thanks guys.

    Quoted from eh97ac:

Nice work. Did you buy a proper face mask yet?

I have been in the paint industry 25 years and own every know type of respirator including fresh air hoods. I’ll be fine.
