Have a Buck Rogers project I'll be bringing in from the garage soon. I usually look through the club forum before I start a fixer upper, but I see there isn't one so I figured I'd start one myself. I'm sure posts will be sporadic, but that's O.K.

I'm thinking about getting a Pascal Janin board. Anyone done this on a Buck? If so, how is the game with all the board's added features?

Thanks plowpusher. I did a pascal board a few years back in a genie, but it wasn't the all in one. When I get it in from the garage I'll see if the power supply and driver board are salvageable and decide which board to get based on that.

That back glass looks perfect! Mine's got a little flaking unfortunately. I like to play with the angle a little until I get it where I like it.

Your playfield looks real nice.

I had planned on restoring mine 2 years ago but life got in the way so it's just been sitting... but hopefully soon.

Quoted from Robotworkshop:

It looks like Buck Rogers should use a set of 27" Chrome no ribbed legs. The pbresource.com site shows they are out. Anyone know of a source for 27" legs? My game had 28.5" legs on it and would like to get the correct ones at some point.

Marco specialties is also currently out of these (27 3/8" Gottlieb). You can set it up so they notify you when they're back in stock.

Does anyone happen to have pictures of connectors A1-J6 and A1-J7 ? I’m in the process of repinning the connectors. Some of the wires were pulled out of those connectors.

How's this?

Success! Everything appears to look pretty good. [quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Yes, looks like you got really lucky on the board under that battery. De-solder and remove it ASAP, as Robotworkshop suggested. Also I think those capacitors on the power supply are originals and will likely need to be replaced. Great Plains Electronics has a kit to replace them all.

Check the diodes on the pop bumper and flipper coils. Look carefully for any broken leads, as that could cause strange issues.
Are you running the original boards?

Quoted from ElCid95:

Buck Rogers is my second game I bought and paid about $1,200 from Pinball Rescue 911. Still have it and don't think I'll get rid of it anytime soon. Adding a Flippp P1-1X4 is a must have upgrade, especially with the new attract mode and skill shot. If you get one, recommend you put blinking bulbs behind Buck Rogers and a RGB color changer on the tip of the pistol.

Looks nice.

Thinking about getting a buck rodgers but so many have beat playfields. Does anyone know of anyone producing repo playfields or an overlay?

I have not seen a reproduction. However, there are some people who are very good at restoring playfields, so that may be an option. Usually you end up with something better than reproduction when you go that route

Quoted from SafetyCube:

Hey y'all, I have one question on gameplay and one about backglass.
1. Is the vari-target supposed to reset fully for each player, or is it variable (either based on your previous ball or even random)? I'm running the original boards.
2. Does anyone have a source for a reproduction backglass? If not, perhaps a high-quality scan where I could perhaps get one printed? My original backglass is flaking more and more each day. I don't think it's worth touching up at this point. Maybe a clearcoat on the back will prevent it from getting worse, but I haven't done that before.

I cleared mine with Krylon triple thick. Might not hurt to give it a try. Even if you end up getting a repro, at least you’re preserving a cool wallhanger.
